We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Bowman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marissa, how does your business help the community?
ConserveX Corporation, a neighborhood landscaping, conservation, and restoration business is offering free landscape services for one month at Centinela Hospital. We do community outreach & volunteering on a quarterly basis.

This service is the company’s way of bridging the community gap between the people of Inglewood and the healthcare professionals. The service will include a complimentary landscaping consultation, lawn mowing, sprinkler installation and gardening services, and plant delivery.

“The Centinela Health Care professionals have shown resilience providing patient care during the unprecedent times fighting against Covid-19,” said Marissa Bowman, CEO and Founder of ConserveX. “They stand with our community and remain on the frontline with patients during their time of need. We want to do our part by aiding in the support between the community and healthcare professionals.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
ConserveX has a reputation as one of the leading providers of ECO- Friendly residential and commercial landscape solutions. Our focus since 2018 has been to provide exceptional service for our clients. We pride ourselves on excellent work, and listen to our customers’ needs, building lasting relationships. Our continuous pursuit for preserving our planet has resulted in consistent growth each year. ConserveX Landscaping is made up of a group of highly skilled landscaping professionals who pay a lot of attention to small details. In the 30+ years of experience our staff keep your property looking and functioning beautifully.

What sets us apart from others and what I am most proud about is that ConserveX is one of the only Black women owned and operated landscape companies in the world. I am currently in the process of completing my C-27 landscape license. Everyone working under the business will then receive licensed landscape working experience. I have already begun creating and teaching the concept of generational wealth to the team. Through ConserveX, I have employed several people of color and offer a unique work experience for women.

Almost two decades ago, my father invented and patented our first lawn & garden product called The Sprinkler Water Guard®, which greatly inspired our Eco-friendly approach.

ConserveX Landscaping Corp. was founded by Marissa Bowman, who started the business by maintaining neighborhood homes in the Los Angeles area. The business began in 2015 as a part-time job. After one year, the business flourished into a full-time career. The entire business was originally created to perform residential mowing, landscape installation, sprinkler repairs and other miscellaneous jobs but quickly blossomed into a larger entity.

In 2018, the business incorporated under the name of ConserveX, Corp. The business has expanded every year since and is presently involved in commercial landscape maintenance as well as residential landscaping. We are currently offering Indoor plants for sale https://conservex.com/shop/

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is such a vibrant city full of cultural and fun things to do. The first place I take anyone that comes to visit So-Cal is the beach. I would take them for a cruise down PCH, then stop at one of favorite food trucks in South LA “Fraiche Signatures. Shoutout to Chef E Dubble, then we would catch a Clipper or Rams game depending on the season. I was born in Inglewood CA and have a huge love for South Los Angeles in my heart. We would end the weekend in Leimert Park checking out local vendors and shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
