Hi Marion, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I desperately needed an escape from the mundane repetitiveness of the so-called “9 to 5” job. I realized that if I was ever going to live the life I wanted to live I would need to make sacrifices including obtaining the necessary knowledge to begin in real estate. The most important thing I learned is to be your own number one fan because at the end of the day if you don’t believe in yourself then why should anyone else believe in you?

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I’m a realtor with Keller Williams San Diego East Foothills in El Cajon, CA, business owner and entrepreneur. I provide rental cars to customers who need them. I also have a YouTube channel called Surrealistic Studios-Surreal News where I discuss real estate, news and current events. I pride myself on being 100% authentic and genuine whether on camera or off camera. What you see is what you get! I made some financial sacrifices to obtain the tools and education necessary to succeed in my field. I also had to change my thinking and evolve into a better man.

Although it can be challenging at times as long as a person has faith in oneself, remains persistent and consistent anything is possible!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

My favorite spots in San Diego California are Sunset Cliffs, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach and all the delicious taco shops! We would stop by the Ocean Beach pier for some lobster tacos and then maybe go downtown to Gaslamp San Diego for drinks and dancing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to shoutout my mother Cynthia S Rubio (author) who taught to be genuine 100%, my father *Marion L Bowens Sr.* (attorney) who taught me to use my charm, my lovely wife *Angel Bowens* (future realtor) who believes in me and drives me to do better and my Grandmother *Milagros ‘Millie’ Borrero*, god rest her soul, who helped raise me, taught me to be honest and also provided me with the last remaining funds in her bank account that I used to start my real estate career. I also would like to shoutout my friends John ‘Sylint’ Bullock the 3rd (musician) and Isaiah ‘Milli Hu$$le’ Franklin (musician). Both great musicians and performers!
