We had the good fortune of connecting with Marchello Pangemanan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marchello, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I was in my 20s, I did not care about balance in my life. And as I grow older, I tend to look at things differently , in more responsible way. I have to be wise to find the middle ground between work and play time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My excited moment was, when I was working as PowerLine Surveyor , I got to fly around in the helicopter all day and taking picture of power poles for fire mitigation. It was very scary at first. to look down from open door helicopter and taking pictures. but who wouldn’t want to get paid by flying around in the helicopter and doing the job you love which is taking pictures and sometime nap.
the lesson I learned being photographer is that there are so many different opportunities out there, and is up to you to take the leap of faith and take the job.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so many cool places in San Diego Monday : visiting USS Midway , Seaport Village and Mt Soledad
Tuesday: Balboa park free museums and taco tuesday at old town
Wednesday: San Diego Zoo
Thursday: SeaWorld and College Night Pacific beach
Friday : Snorkeling In Lajolla
Saturday: Casbah
Sunday: Shopping at outlet in San ysidro

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Edwin Alcaraz. I met him in Navy in Guam 2004. He was the photographer of our unit. He inspired me to pursue photography and become what I am now.
