We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandi Dyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mandi, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Prior to becoming a Travel Advisor, I worked in Property Management for 16 years in various markets across the U.S. I was fortunate to work with several amazing leaders that I learned valuable lessons from. Setting quantifiable and achievable goals is the most important habit I have embraced. A Supervisor of mine once told me “If you do not know where you are going, how will you find your way there?” Since then, I always know where I am in relation to my goals both professionally and personally. I will forever set expectations and follow through on my commitment with my Clients. I feel that habit is the best way to build trust and create relationships.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I previously spent 16 years in Property Management which despite the view from outside… is a very challenging career! When I decided to leave Property Management to spend more time at home, I was really unsure of where to even start. I researched so many options and a Sales Position literally fell into my lap.

Working for a company that sells supplies to property management companies gave me the flexibility I needed without leaving the industry I loved so much. I recently began a position as a Travel Advisor which has been so much fun! It has combined my excitement for travel with my love for helping people. I have learned so much in this position and am truly having a blast! My husband and I love taking our kids to travel and experience different areas of the Country. There is so much out there to explore and experience!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Louisiana, it is ALL about the food and history here! Visiting the Old State Capital, USS KIDD and Plantation Homes are the quintessential Baton Rouge must dos. A relaxing scenic drive up to St. Francisville to tour The Myrtles, one of America’s most haunted houses, followed by a delicious meal at Restaurant 1796 onsite is an awesome way to spend a relaxing weekend. Exploring the sights and sounds in New Orleans makes for an eclectic can’t miss experience. Complete with Ghost, Vampires, Voodoo, Cemetery and Swamp tours, New Orleans will keep you on your toes! For more traditional fun, dining, shopping, drinking and exploring the French Quarter and Jackson Square will give you a truly authentic and immersive New Orleans experience

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has been my foundation throughout my entire career. From the time I was little to my first mall job to my current career… my parents have been my biggest cheerleader but also served as a valuable example of balancing career with family. Because of the example they set, I am able to do so with my family today.
