We had the good fortune of connecting with Malinee Churanakoses and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malinee, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business helps the community of women going through a divorce because the platform brings female experts in the field of divorce, some of who have gone through divorce themselves. In addition my sister the CEO and myself, a Co-Founder, have also both gone through divorce, so we can relate to every single woman and provide a safe and nurturing place to get access to information as you go through your divorce.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Coming from a project management background, I handle all the “operations” of Chapter2 Club and wear many hats everyday. Starting an online business from scratch is a lot of work and since we’re self funded I have to learn and do everything myself. It’s been a great learning and growing experience and I know I can use these skills with any job.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a big foodie and love modern art, all types of music and culture. There are so many great places in San Diego. For food, I would first hit all the Asian restaurants in Convoy (Kearny Mesa area). Menya Ultra Ramen and Hidden Fish Sushi are my top 2 choices. I love the Hillcrest, North Park, University Heights and Banker’s Hill neighborhoods. For North County, Carlsbad, Encinitas and Cardiff has many great spots. Fish 101 is my favorite casual spot in Cardiff and Campfire is an excellent choice in Carlsbad. Post Covid, I would recommend visiting The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla and downtown San Diego, taking the Coaster from Oceanside to Old Town, catching a show at the San Diego Civic Center and hike Torrey Pines State Beach. Maybe throw in a day trip to Julian or strawberry picking in Carlsbad.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In my story, my shoutout has a few people in mind. First, my sister Matana LePlae who is the CEO and other Co-Founder of Chapter2Club. She has helped me my entire life with my first job when I was 16 up until now. She is a strong “go -getter” and never stops working. The other person isn’t directly related to Chapter2Club but someone who helped me get back into the work place after being a stay at home mom for over 12 years. He not only gave me an opportunity to work for him but I have learned a tremendous amount about myself, sales and business in general. John Flannery of Flannery Sales Systems. He gave me the opportunity to handle all of his digital marketing efforts for his company, which I still do today. I was able to “learn on the job” and these skills have helped me with running Chapter2Club. I would also like to thank my SEO teacher Alan Bush from UCSD Extension. His guidance and mentorship in digital marketing and in life has also helped me find focus and direction.
