We had the good fortune of connecting with Lina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was the result of both a realization and a calling. For years, I watched brilliant, creative people struggle with the tech side of bringing their ideas to life online. I saw them held back not by lack of passion or talent, but by the overwhelm of designing and managing a website that actually worked for their business.

My background gave me the skills to bridge that gap, and I felt a deep pull to create something that would serve purpose-driven entrepreneurs in a way that felt empowering—not frustrating. I didn’t just want to build websites; I wanted to create a process that was genuinely effortless for the client, so they could focus on doing what they love while trusting their online presence was aligned, strategic, and beautiful.

The thought process was rooted in a simple question: What if I could turn clarity, ease, and intentional design into a service? That’s how Effortless Web Designs came to be—not just as a business, but as a solution, a support system, and a creative partner for the kinds of people I most admire.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been a beautiful, evolving tapestry woven from creativity, connection, and a deep desire to serve others in meaningful ways. I started in educational journey in communications with an emphasis in public relations, driven by a love for storytelling and connecting with people. Over time, that evolved into roles in community engagement, brand strategy, and digital content—each step guiding me closer to where I’m meant to be: helping people and purpose-driven brands tell their stories with clarity, heart, and intention.

What sets me apart is my ability to bring both heart and strategy to the table. I’ve worn many hats—from hosting live shows and producing content, to managing multi-faceted marketing campaigns, to serving as a connector in community spaces like the TERI Campus of Life, pioneers of making a difference among the neurodiversity population . Through it all, I’ve learned how to bridge the gap between vision and execution, translating ideas into experiences that resonate.

It definitely hasn’t been easy. Like many, I’ve faced moments of doubt, imposter syndrome, and the challenges that come with redefining yourself through multiple career chapters. But I’ve learned that growth often comes from the discomfort—that you don’t have to have it all figured out to take the next right step. I leaned into mentorship, faith, and the people who believed in me when I couldn’t yet believe in myself.

One of my proudest achievements is creating and leading projects that empower others—whether it’s through content, community, or strategy. I’m especially passionate about helping people feel seen and understood in their brand story, because I know how powerful that can be.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about me and my work, it’s this: I lead with intention. Everything I do—whether it’s designing content, curating experiences, or consulting with clients—is rooted in a desire to uplift, connect, and create impact. I believe we’re all here for a purpose, and I’m grateful that mine allows me to help others discover and share theirs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a former Hawaii resident, choosing Southern California for college felt like the natural move—it was the closest thing to my island lifestyle, especially with its sunshine, surf, and laid-back vibe. After over 25 years of living in North County San Diego and raising my family here, I’ve come to truly appreciate the richness and diversity of this area. And honestly? I’m still discovering hidden gems all the time.

If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d plan an itinerary that blends coastal beauty, local flavor, and a touch of unexpected adventure.

We’d kick things off with a scenic day on Coronado Island, biking the Silver Strand, brunching at The Henry, and catching the sunset by the iconic Hotel Del. From there, we’d cruise up the coast—La Jolla Cove for sea lion spotting and coffee at Bird Rock, then on to Carlsbad Village for boutique shopping, and Oceanside for the artsy beach vibe, rooftop cocktails at The Seabird, and maybe even a night of live music at The Pour House or The California Surf Museum for something uniquely local.

Mid-week, we’d take a break from the coast and head east. Julian is a must for apple pie and mountain charm, with stops at cozy wineries like Menghini Winery or Volcan Mountain Winery. Ramona also has an emerging wine scene and is perfect for a relaxed, rustic day. If we’re feeling adventurous, we might dip down to Jacumba Hot Springs for a desert escape and healing soak, or stop by the Viejas Outlet Mall in Alpine for a little retail therapy.

Back in the city, we’d explore neighborhoods like Little Italy for trendy dining (hello, Born & Raised or Juniper & Ivy), Barrio Logan for street art and authentic Mexican bites at Las Cuatro Milpas, and North Park for craft brews, record shops, and that cool, creative energy.

I’d also make sure we hit a local farmers market (like Leucadia or Hillcrest) and find a night to dance or catch a show—maybe at Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach or a live acoustic set at Quartyard downtown.

San Diego is full of surprises. It’s not just the postcard-perfect beaches—it’s the diverse communities, the mix of urban and natural beauty, and the spirit of creativity and culture that really make it special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a heartfelt shoutout to my former boss and dear friend, Jim Correll, who played a pivotal role in sparking my journey into digital content and marketing. Jim had a remarkable way of seeing potential in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself. His encouragement and challenges were instrumental in shaping the direction of my career and igniting a passion I didn’t know I had.

And above all, I’m endlessly grateful for my husband, Chris—my rock, my constant. His unwavering support, belief in me, and quiet strength have carried me through the moments of doubt and fear. His faith in my abilities gave me the courage to keep showing up, to keep growing, and to keep doing the work I love, even when the odds felt stacked against me.
