Meet Lauren Norris | Hair Salon Owner & Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Norris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what do you want your legacy to be?
Beauty is such an intimate and personal thing and I want people to remember me by the way I made them feel internally just as much as the beauty service they receive. I believe kindness looks like genuinely caring for people, listening to what they have to say and allowing people to feel truly seen.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been a hairstylist since 2009 and have had the opportunity to work in salons, freelance for photoshoots and special events, be a part of runway shows and educate for Paul Mitchell. I absolutely love the diversity in the beauty industry and wouldn’t want to be doing anything else!
In 2016, I struggled with how to balance work and my new title as mom and really had to take a step back and reevaluate what my future would look like. I decided to open a hair salon where I could be in control of my schedule so that I could spend quality time with my family. My goal with Citizen Salon was to open a space where creatives could call home and also have a healthy work/life balance. We believe in authenticity and value personal and professional growth. We want our stylists to have days off and to explore other talents and goals versus working full-time and feeling like they have nothing to give when they leave the salon.
About Citizen Salon
CITIZEN SALON follows the philosophy that hair color, hair cutting and makeup are not just a service, but a craft. Our stylists seek to expand clients knowledge through a one-on-one personalized experience. We believe in cultivating an environment that is authentic and honest. We thrive best when our clients feel confident and knowledgeable about recreating their personalized style at home. We invite you to be a CITIZEN.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been extremely grateful to have met so many supportive people and mentors along my journey in the beauty industry. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the Paul Mitchell network and community of inspiring artists and business owners who presented me with opportunities to learn and grow.
