We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Katz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Even though my business started out as a hobby, I knew I wanted individuals to have access to high-quality, affordable jewelry that they could essential wear forever. Jewelry has always been special to me and my family since I have many timeless heirlooms that have been worn and passed down from generation to generation. I wanted to give people the opportunity to not only enjoy a particular piece of jewelry today, but for years to come.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was never interested in the “business” side of becoming a jewelry designer, only the creative aspect of it. Now, balancing both can occasionally feel more like a chore since my only desire going into my business in the beginning was to create and inspire others. Overtime, I’ve learned to take one day at a time and to be more present. Looking ahead and setting future goals can be important, but I find it adds unnecessary stress most of the time
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since it can get pretty hot in Irvine in the summer, I love going to Newport Beach and site-seeing near Balboa Island. The area brings back such great memories from when I was little so it’s one of my favorite places to take visitors when they come to Orange County. I also love Laguna Beach and I’m a huge foodie so hitting up some restaurants over there is always a go-to on my list. Plus, you can’t beat the views!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am in my career today without the love and support of my family. The’ve always been there for me and my business no matter what. Everyone in my family plays a role in LK Jewelers and I will never be able to thank them enough for everything they’ve done and sacrificed for me.
