We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauran Woolley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauran, what do you want people to remember about you?
I think it’s really hard to determine what you want your legacy to be. It’s essentially asking a person to boil their entire life down to one singular thing people will remember them for. Stripping away all the other facets of their personality that make them who they are. So I guess I would want people to remember that I made them smile. That my content and my actions had some positive impact on their life in one way or another. That I made a difference in someone’s life. That the footprint I left in this world grew flowers instead of weeds.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from others is the nature of my content. Although I’m a teacher, my content is not necessarily geared towards entertaining teachers. I make content for my students. There are so many things on the internet, and many of them are not kid friendly. I pride myself on making content that’s appropriate for a younger audience to watch, but not childish. I think that’s part of the reason my page blew up so much. You have to think about who your audience is and how you’re going to reach them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay, well, the area I live in is pretty quiet, so it might not seem as exciting. But first, I’d take them to get Handel’s Ice Cream. It’s a staple in this area and literally the best ice cream in the country. Next, we’d take a drive to Butler Art Museum. It’s one of my favorite places to go to think. My grandpa and I used to go every year on my birthday, and the artwork is stunning. While we’re downtown, I’d take them to the Arms Family Museum, a great place to go to step back in time. Then, we’d head over to Mill Creek Park and Lanterman’s Mill. It’s a gorgeous metro park with beautiful scenery and waterfalls. We’d go to the Elm Road Drive-In, because it’s the perfect summer evening. I’d take them to some of my favorite locally owned restaurants Marino’s Italian Cafe, Tequila Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, and Wedgewood Pizza. We could even take a quick trip out to Cleveland to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Maybe even go to a Cleveland Guardians game while we’re at it. And to end the week, we’ll head over to Cedar Point, a fun amusement park just a few hours away!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are two people in particular that deserve credit for my success. First, my high school speech and debate coach, Andrea Reed. She inspired me to work on my love of acting and entertainment, and to pursue what makes me happy, not what makes others happy. She has always been an amazing role model and a friend.
Secondly, and most importantly, my husband. Without his unwavering support and work behind the scenes, I don’t think my career would be as successful as it is. He is always my greatest cheerleader, and the person I run to for advice.
I love them both with all my heart.
