Hi Laura, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before starting Bold Confidence Aesthetics, I had the privilege of working alongside a premier cosmetic dermatologist. I loved that role—it gave me the opportunity to learn advanced techniques, deliver high-quality patient care, and build meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients.

The turning point came during a conversation with one of my longtime patients. She mentioned that while the overall environment at the medical spa felt cold, my presence brought warmth and comfort. That moment stuck with me. I knew I wanted to create something different—a space where patients not only felt seen and heard, but truly cared for.

That’s what inspired me to launch Bold Confidence Aesthetics: a place where women can feel safe, supported, and comfortable enough to share their deepest insecurities. In creating a warm, empathetic environment, I’ve found that patients open up in powerful ways—allowing us to treat not only what’s visible, but the emotional weight beneath it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bold Confidence Aesthetics is a boutique medical spa where the patient experience is truly at the heart of everything we do. Every journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, allowing me to fully understand the scope of each patient’s concerns and tailor a treatment plan that aligns with their unique goals.

I take great pride in offering advanced techniques grounded in deep, evidence-based knowledge of facial anatomy—delivered at accessible pricing. Over the years, I’ve devoted myself to continuous education and hands-on training to ensure I’m always providing the safest, most effective, and cutting-edge treatments available.

In my clinic, I often remind both women and men that my goal is never to make my work stand out—but to allow their natural beauty to shine through. Achieving subtle, confident results requires precise knowledge of anatomy and thoughtful product placement, which I approach with intention and care.

Since opening Bold Confidence Aesthetics, I’ve been humbled to receive over 130 five-star reviews in just the first 10 months—a reflection, I believe, of the trust patients place in me and the results we achieve together.

Starting this business has been one of the most challenging and rewarding journeys of my life. Entrepreneurship can feel like walking into a dark, unfamiliar room with no map—but every lesson and hurdle has brought me closer to building a space that truly empowers others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This honestly makes me laugh—I’m a full-time working mom with two young kids, a husband, and two businesses I’ve launched in the past year. A week off with my best friend sounds like absolute paradise!

Luckily, we get to call beautiful San Diego home, with stunning beaches just steps away. I’d spend most of the week soaking up the sun on different beaches around town, fully embracing the slow, peaceful pace. And of course, no San Diego staycation would be complete without a stop (or two) at The Taco Stand in Encinitas—it’s a must!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Laura Welty. She has been instrumental as a business advisor. Without her, Bold Confidence Aesthetics would not be the aesthetic clinic that it is today. She has been a pivotal consultant in providing direction for growth in my business.
