We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista G. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krista, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From a young age I always had a love for makeup. I grew up with two older sisters and mom. They always put on make up for special occasions and work. I would always watched them while putting on their make up and told myself I can’t wait to get older and do my own makeup. My older sister would let me use lipgloss and from then I knew I loved lipgloss. I always wanted to start my own business but was very lost Where to start and how to start it. When the pandemic started and I lost my job I knew this was a perfect time to start my business. First my business was called “Lashes by Krista G.” I love lashes and love them even more because I have very almond shapes eyes. When I put a good lash on I feel so confident about myself. Later on, I started to realize that selling lashes wasn’t my passion. Being a model and student I didn’t feel like I was giving my business 100% of my attention when it was called “Lashes by Krista G. “My friend Georgina and I started to talk about starting a business together. I was all for it but juggling two business and modeling. I can barely even handle one right now. Then I talked to her about rebranding “Lashes by Krista G.” and make her a co owner of it. She was all for it and said she would love to do that with me. We didn’t tell any of our family members or friends about our business. We thought keeping it a secret would be better then telling everybody that we are starting a business and not doing anything. Rebranding a business and starting from 0 again is no joke. We had to think who our target audience is, online store, themes, designs, and what our purpose is. After weeks of thinking of a name we finally decided to name our business “Unapologetic Bitch.” Very aggressive name we know but, the meaning behind it is so powerful. We want our customers to be unapologetically themselves. Where we don’t want you to follow what society wants you to do or what people want you to do. We want you to be yourself and the b*tch. Our goal is to inspire women and men to love themselves and who they are because there is only one you. We hope in the future that we inspire society to be unapologetic and be who they want to be.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
“Unapologetic Bitch” is 100% vegan and cruelty free cosmetics. No animal was harmed while making. That is something that I’m very passionate about. I love earth and Mother Nature so when I started my business I knew I wanted it to be vegan and cruelty free. Also, all of our cosmetics is hand made. We make all our products by hand and will still continue to be that way. That being said, it’s not easy making products hand made sometimes because There’s a lot of trial and error. Sometimes the product looks great but when you put it on it’s not that great. There was a lot of nights where we would research formulas to see what could make it better. Don’t think everything is going to be perfect the first time. Sometimes you’re going to have to keep re trying until you are satisfied with the product. The lessons I learned was to never give up. This is my dream and I wouldn’t want to let go of my dream because I wasn’t happy with one product. I want the world to know that I never gave up on myself and my brand. My brand resembles me and who I am. My cosmetics are different from Kylie cosmetics, Mac, Morphe, and etc because it’s handmade by women. It’s vegan and cruelty free and has a lot of great benefits.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego is a beautiful city. I would definitely bring my best friend to my favorite beach in La Jolla. La Jolla is the best beach here in SD. I would definitely want to go swimming or snorkeling. I grew up in the water so when I go to the beach I have to go swimming. I would also that them to my favorite restaurant in SD which is Morning Glory in Little Italy. This restaurant is so cute and pink! My favorite color is pink so this restaurant definitely caught my eye. This restaurant is great for pictures so make sure you have a cute outfit for pics.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gary Vee. I started listening to Gary Vee podcast every morning on my drive to school and recently finished his book “crushing it.” This man is so powerful with his words. The actions he took and what he does for his supporters is unreal. When I felt unsuccessful about anything I watched some videos of Gary Vee on Instagram and felt more inspired. He is a great entrepreneur and I highly recommend him to people who wants to start their own business.
