We had the good fortune of connecting with KEVINRAY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KEVINRAY, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from Chesterton, Indiana which is a small town about 2 hrs East of Chicago. It’s a typical small town where everyone knows everyone. Local bars, no movie theatre, no clubs, and the baseball coach is a local legend that is still coaching after about 50 years. It was frustrating as a kid not having much to do but it gave me a solid base of “what matters,” and helped me build strong character, morals, values which is necessary to stay afloat in the hustle and bustle of a major metropolitan area such as LA

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Artistically, I’m all over the place haha. I love KRE8ING in general but my main passion is singing and rapping. I also dance, do videography, editing, photography, have a few clothing brands, direct, etc. I think I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been pursuing my dreams for so long. I moved to California 20 years ago and through everything, all the hurdles, the struggles, the ups and downs. I’m most proud of just attempting to go after something and stick to it. Regardless if I “make it” or not. That takes a lot, and honestly I feel like I’ve achieved my dreams as I KRE8 the things I love which took a lot of time and work to be able to say that. Although I obviously would like to reach and connect with more people, I don’t need validation from others to feel that my dreams have become reality, and that definitely says a lot. There have been many struggles along the way…being broke because I invested all my money in my dreams…almost to the point of being homeless. Health issues, uncertainties, losing myself and then finding myself. Those things are all part of life, living, and growing if your bold enough to be open and experience it

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This probably sounds crazy but I’m not completely sure. I never “hang out.” 7 days a week I KRE8 and work to fund my projects so I very rarely get to discover places or enjoy a social life. That probably sounds really boring to others but it’s what I love although I’m grinding and sacrificing to enjoy a more enhanced social life later. I guess I would take them to some of the typical spots in LA such as the Hollywood sign, Universal, the Santa Monica Pier, etc

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out and thank my parents for instilling in me the value of a strong work ethic and dependability. Also, to some of my crew Kentrell, Isaac, Pistol Pete, Nasty-O, Mackvillin, STC, Mark Arica, Delano, Beatslaya, Jimmie, Kevin and Dea, Dave, Anthony Maze, ChiGuy, Shaka, Jaz, Jamini, DreKno, Wicket, Boogie, Omeed, GMadison, Dom, and more. These folks have been a massive part of my efforts and energy
