Hi Kenyatta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since i was a little girl, i always dreamed of having a clothing collection. I use to sketch outlines of outfits in my Notepad in my room while all the other kids were outside playing. I always had a love for vibrant colors , prints and designs. I am a handbag lover. I have so many! I am the friend that all my other friends call to ask can they borrow a handbag. I wanted a collection to reflect my love of colors and designs to share with others, head turners and to stand out in any crowd.
What should our readers know about your business?
Dream Closet was formed in 2019. Dream Closet is an apparel and accessories shop, based in Chesapeake, Virginia located inside Chesapeake Crossing. We aim to provide fun pieces year round for those that may be small, tall, curvy, etc. We try especially hard to find unique pieces that will have you standing out in the crowd, as well as those timeless fashions that simply never go out of style.

This road taking this journey has not been easy. It definitely has had its ups and downs. During the process of getting to where i am now i invested in my brand by attending seminars , browsing the web locating resources, purchasing e books, and reading business articles. There have been a lot of challenges that i have overcome while i been on this entrepreneurship journey , i take every mistake and turn it into a lesson learned, so i won’t make the same mistakes again. I am thankful for every mistake that has been made because it has allowed me to find a new strategy to keep my business rolling.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy dining at cork & co located in downtown, Norfolk. The food is delicious , the menu is to die for and the pricing is super affordable! They offer paint nights there as well. Nice music, nice vibe!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents and kids are my biggest supporters., definitely can not forget my friends. Having a support system plays a huge role while you are on the road with any entrepreneurship. They keep me uplifted and encouraged.
