We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Tobin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Take it one step at a time”. I have it tattooed on my foot. I feel like it any situation where I have felt overwhelmed or at the end of my rope, I think of this phrase and remember that I can do anything I set my mind to, and I can get through anything, just start with baby steps and take it day by day.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My beer page started as an influence by my friend Elissa who has a food page. She knows my love for breweries and craft beer, so she put the idea in my head and helped me brainstorm catchy names. It started as a fun hobby for me, but has turned in to more than I expected and I can’t wait to see where else we go.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a tough one because San Diego has SO MUCH to do! My favorite place is the beach, so I would absolutely take a visitor to see the sea lions in La Jolla. Then drive over to El Zarape in North Park for a carne asada burrito before walking around the University Heights boutiques. Next, we’d grab some bikes and make our way through Balboa Park and head over to downtown, and stop at Waterfront Park. I love to sit by the water and watch the boats go in and out of the marina. It’s also a great place to people watch! For sunset, I’d go to the South Beach Bar and Grill in Ocean Beach. It’s my favorite spot for $1 oysters and a cold beer!
