We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Aida Roualdes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelsey Aida, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I’ve learned to go with the flow of my own personal energy. Luckily, working for myself gives me the freedom to produce and create when I’m inspired… and to take breaks when I need them to rest and recharge!
In general, I highly disagree that the majority of the week should be dedicated to working and only two days are for personal time and rest, so I have set up my life in a way where my workdays only take up 3-4 days of the week maximum and that gives me plenty of balance.
Some periods in my career I”ve felt inspired to work more and work harder, and other times I’ve taken months to a year off and lived off my savings. Being great at saving and managing my finances well gives me a lot of freedom to choose when and how much I want to work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a personal development author, blogger, and coach all started as a dream to write self-help books. After healing myself from a three-year-long depression with mindset and lifestyle shifts alone (without medication) I thought that it would be helpful for everyone to know what I had figured out about feeling good and how to live your best life.
I was ready to be the next Deepak Chopra! There was only one problem… Nobody knew who I was (whomp) and nobody was gonna ready my book if I wasn’t known. So, that’s when my blog KelseyAida.com was born. Every week I would write articles on the topics of spirituality, manifestation, self-empowerment, self-love, emotional healing, etc.
After some time of writing articles and gaining a following, I was ready to publish my first book, #ActuallyICan: The Art of Affirming Yourself to Greatness! And a few years after that I published my second book, Affirmations for Happiness: 200 Positive Affirmations for a Joyful Mindset Every Day.
Now my blog has evolved into a full-blown business where I help people all over the world manifest their genuine desires, love themselves like never before and heal their emotional body through online courses, private and group coaching, international retreats, and even a podcast called “High Vibin’ It”!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a big fan of going out to eat, seeing art, shopping, and staying in nice hotels. So if a friend were to come visit, those are all the things we would do!
For a casual lunch, we could start at Urban Plates so I can eat one of my favorite foods, mac and cheese! Then maybe go enjoy some shopping and get a green juice at UTC. After that, spend some time in the museums at Balboa Park. And finish it off with any nice hotel stay, something in downtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my parents for not forcing me to go to college and encouraging me to follow my passions and take an unconventional route to success! Watching them both be self-employed all my life also really instilled in me a lot of entrepreneurial values and freedoms from a young age. I’m very thankful I was born into the family that I have!
