We had the good fortune of connecting with Kellyta Soto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a photographer specialized in maternity, newborn, children and family. My style is clean, vibrant, and bright. I began to study photography six years ago and have had the opportunity to meet and photograph many families and especially newborns in San Diego and North Carolina. Being a mom and wife gave me a vision of what love is and how important it is to create memories and capture them. My goal is to always create something different and personalized for each of my clients.

Being a military wife has brought many challenges for me and my business because it is common to move from city to city which makes it difficult to consolidate as a brand and have a consistent track record. However, whenever I have a break in my work flow I try to continue learning and developing my style. I take advantage of technology to learn from the best and improve my art.

My plan for next year is to participate in more photography competitions. I think this is important for my growth; this is my dream and I will continue to work to create the way I see it in my head.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love exploring the stores, museums, and cafés and restaurants in Liberty Station, enjoying the atmosphere of Seaport Village, the boardwalk of Pacific Beach, the beauty of La Jolla, the view at Sunset Cliffs and the drive through the National Cemetery on the way there, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, the Outlets in San Ysidrio, and of course the food! We would get tacos at Salud! in Barrio Logan, California Burritos from Lucha Libre in North Park, and Salt & Pepper wings from Royal Mandarin in National City.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I actually come from a very creative family, I have memories of watching my mother who is a fashion designer always creating beautiful things with her hands, decorating our house, or inventing things with different materials. She taught me that hard work will get you everything in life; you have to dream, persevere and act. Get up early to work while others sleep and not waste time (something I still struggle with to be honest!).

If there is anyone who deserves to be recognized for the person I’ve become and for my professional growth it is my mother.
