We had the good fortune of connecting with Keith Mooney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keith, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had a passion working events and large crowds, so I started Fluid Bartenders. I have always preferred hosting events vs. going to them. And having a background in managing them, working at hotels in catering, and now as a dental office manager during the week, launching Fluid Bartenders came very easy for me. Fluid Bartenders gets to help our clients with their very special celebrations, and to me, that’s a good time!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fluid Bartenders is a bartending staffing company serving private and corporate events. I believe that our focus on the details is what sets us apart from our competitors. We listen to our clients and follow-through to the very end. And, if something goes sideways, we find a way to make it right, so it all works out in the end. Fluid Bartenders in moving up!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego has so much to offer, you can be a tourist in your own town all the time. The number one stop in San Diego has to be the beach! My favorite spot to soak up some rays is Coronado Beach, and then I’d stop by Hotel Del Coronado, with happy hour at Miguel’s Cocina for amazing Mexican food! And repeat all week. I love animals and San Diego Zoo would have to be on that list of things to do, too. Oh, and we’d make a stop in my hood (Normal Heights) to Polite Provisions and The Rabbit Hole for cocktails (with an easy Uber ride home).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few people who have mentored me along way over the years, for sure! I believe people are put in your way and not my chance. When I was 20 years old going to college in Bellevue Washington in the day and working at Seattle Sheraton as valet parker full time at night, I met John Zaring who managed a celebrity charity event called “ Richard Karn StarDays”. The stars and staff were all based at the hotel and I wanted to be a part of it, so I volunteered. John started me out as a driver, taking the celebrities and sponsors to their destinations, and I worked my way up over he years to operations manager, eventually moving to Valencia California to join his company full time. In the event world you learn to be flexible because sometimes things don’t always go as planned. I learned from John how to organize the chaos, and he taught me ways to deal with tricky situations that can go either direction. His example was PRICELESS!
