Meet Katy Ho | Commercial Model, Creative, & SoCal Real Estate Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katy Ho and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wish I had a mentor but because I do not have one, I figured if I wanted to monetize my creativity, lifestyle and hobbies, I’ll just do it. I’m figuring methods, flows, and systems out as I go! I started with documenting my multi-passions and travels on YouTube, then got some social media traction such as becoming a YouTube Partner, then opened up an LLC as a solopreneur taking on UGC client video work and gathering all my media-presence or gigs under my LLC. Shoutout to my accountant at The CPA Dude for making solopreneurship smoother.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a commercial model and creative, I have a background in D1 women’s golf so I think my 15,000+ hours set me apart going into the entertainment industry these 5+ years. I am most proud with staying true to myself, not being afraid to fail, and following my curiousity learning and growing. I’ve lived many “past lives” career-wise, and I’m excited to be transitioning into real estate sales in SoCal soon, kind of following my father’s footsteps as an Ohio realtor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny you asked, because my bestfriend was just visiting me from out-of-state!
For a jet-lag recovery day 1, I’d drive us to a private Malibu beach then get dinner in Sawtelle Blvd, or K-town at Quarters or KHDBJ KBBQ, followed by boba or desserts at Heuk Hwa Dang. Since most of my besties are working remotely, throughout the weekday or night, I’d make sure they hit up Mid City’s tacos stands or a fitness class through my hot yoga studio membership or ClassPass. Thursday night, we’d hit up a fancy restaurant. Friday night, we’d go dance clubbing at Exchange LA or Mama Lion. Saturday, we’d do a waterfall hiking day at Switzer Falls and have dinner back in Thai Town Hollywood or Little Tokyo. Sunday, we’d attend church service or have quiet time at a cafe shop with a patio or tons of plants (to get ready for the new week), or hit up a farmer’s market. For an extra adventurous day, y’all can hit up Laguna Ethos for a private ocean kayaking experience in Laguna Beach’s Emerald Bay then sunbath at Victoria Beach’s Pirate Tower.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my talent agents at Prestigious Powerhouse, Heyman Talent Agency, and Docherty Agency for beliving in me, and also to each of my photographer connections whom worked with me on projects allowing me to be free and creative!
