We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Zamura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi karina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting the business was driven by my personal experience of the unique struggles women face on a daily basis: from low wages to society’s expectations of balancing family and work, women are under immense pressure. This reality inspired me to create a space where women could find emotional healing and balance through dance therapy, a method I discovered could help reduce stress, anxiety and burnout. My vision was to create a community that supports women to not only thrive professionally, but also find fulfillment and happiness in their personal lives.

Combining my background in business and passion for ballroom dancing to address mental health issues in a unique way, using dance as a form of therapy. The overwhelmingly positive response, especially after the stress of the pandemic, confirmed my belief in the transformative power of movement and community. I want to offer more than a professional service—I want to promote opportunity, resilience, and emotional expression in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Women United for Support (WUFS), is all about empowering women through dance therapy and personal development. What sets us apart is our holistic approach to healing and growth. We don’t just focus on professional success; we emphasize emotional well-being, mental health, and creating a supportive community where women can truly thrive. WUFS was born out of my personal journey, combining my experience in business with my lifelong passion for ballroom dancing, which was therapeutic during challenging times. I saw the transformative power of movement and knew I wanted to create something that would allow other women to experience the same healing and empowerment.

Getting to where I am today was not easy. From logistical complications to societal stigma surrounding mental health, there were many challenges along the way. One of the most difficult aspects is securing funding and building a network in a new country, especially for a non-profit organization. But I am committed to my vision and determined to bring something unique and meaningful to society. Only with perseverance, adaptability can overcome the obstacles of sos, and community support is a very important part of cooperation.

I am very proud of how WUFS will positively impact hundreds of women by helping them manage stress, heal from trauma and find balance in their lives. WUFS goes beyond the dance studio, it is about building confidence, self-esteem and resilience in women who are often overwhelmed by the pressures of modern life. I want the world to know that WUFS is a safe place for women to connect, heal and grow, a place where we lift each other up.

The most important lesson I have learned along the way is resilience, the power of community and the importance of staying true to your purpose, only when women come together to support each other we can overcome any challenge.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start the day with a refreshing hike by the ocean, followed by a relaxing brunch. It’s the perfect mix of balance, excitement, and relaxation—an ideal way for women to spend time together, supporting and empowering one another.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to salute all the lovely women who balance the demands of raising children, building a career, managing a personal life – especially in such a stressful environment. These women face challenges every day, yet they continue to move forward with strength and determination. Their resilience is what drives my passion and commitment to support in my work. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the mentors, friends, and supporters who have been a part of my journey—those who believed in my vision and helped me turn it into reality.
