We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaleigh Boe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaleigh, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor in the success of our brand is that we truly love what we do! We’ve been fortunate in that we’ve been able to choose our profession -working with children isn’t easy and it certainly isn’t for everyone but we love our work and can’t imagine doing anything else. I think the kids can feel that we’ve “chosen them” and it’s really the driving force behind our success. If you love your job you do it well!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I opened The Lily Pad in the fall of 2006 in Minnesota and opened our California location in January of 2015. I think what sets us apart from other schools and childcares is that we strive every day to be the best option available. Our kids only have one childhood and we think they should spend their days in an environment that is adorable, fun and academic with teachers who love being with them. We want to be the best at what we do and we feel there is always room for improvement-we are constantly growing and changing so that we can provide what’s best for all kids and so that each year is better than the one before! I am most proud of our effort to provide an extraordinary environment for children and I am proud of the relationships we have built with our clients and their families. We are an unusual sector of business in that we aren’t just providing a service for customers-we are forming relationships that last years beyond childhood and I am honored to say that those relationships are our biggest success. To quote C.S. Lewis, “Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the MOST important work.” We couldn’t agree more and think people should know that that sentiment is what motivates us each and every day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love to entertain! I would definitely have them over to our backyard pool and no trip to Carlsbad is complete without a day spent at the beach! We love going out to eat and any place with a view of the water is ideal. Vigguluci’s on the 101 is our favorite! We also enjoy shopping, visiting our local theme parks and taking the family boat out. Our kids love a day spent at Legoland, Sea World or the zoo so those would have to be on our list and we also really enjoy the roller coaster and old fashioned charm of Belmont Park. Depending on the time of year we also love the Del at Coronado-you just can’t beat ice skating on the beach!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family-I live and breath my business which means they do too! Without their unwavering support none of this would be possible. They are my biggest cheerleaders and the reason I work as hard as I do everyday!
