We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlin Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlin, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I guide individuals in their healing and transformation journey. When we heal ourselves, we heal our families and our communities. When we heal our families and communities, we heal the world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kaitlin Reed Consulting specializes in coaching individuals with eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, compulsive exercise, and body image issues. What sets me apart from others is that I am personally recovered from an eating disorder, body image issues, and addiction which fuels my passion and helps provide lived experience to my clients that other coaches/therapists may not. I get most excited about seeing my clients make progress toward recovery and find freedom from their eating disorders. I got to where I am today by taking risks and being vulnerable–and it certainly wasn’t easy. I had to stop “waiting until I was ready,” I had to stop being concerned about what others would think and just go for it. Truth is, we will never be ready and not everyone will be supportive and understand what we’re doing–and that’s ok! We learn the greatest lessons by being in it–by making mistakes, failing over and over again, and getting back up and trying again. I want the world to know that recovery is not easy, it is not neat or linear, but it IS possible. If I can do it, you can too!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a mountain lover ( I find so much peace, clarity, and grounding out there) and one of my favorite activities is camping and hiking, so naturally I would have to take them out to Mount Laguna. We would rent a tiny home for a long weekend at Tiny House Block, hike along the PCT, experience the Anza Borrego Desert, and do the Julian tour of pie, shops, and wineries. The rest of the week would be filled with my favorite place to sit by the water, Cabrillo National Monument Tide Pools, my favorite burger joint, Swagyu Burger, my favorite taco shop, Tuetano Taqueria, a cruise along the 101 for some beautiful ocean views, toppped off with a fancy and delicious dinner at Herb and Wood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To all my friends and family who supported me during my healing and recovery journey and have encouraged me to share my story and help others do the same.
