We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Ware and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea behind Firm Hands was to give people the opportunity to experience a more natural way of healing from physical pain. Before starting Firm Hands I worked in the medical industry where I witnessed patients being over prescribed medication. Witnessing how medication could sometimes be abused, I wanted to create something that would help people heal naturally, thus came the idea of Firm Hands.

What should our readers know about your business?
The one thing that I feel separates my massage business from others is the mental approach I use when treating my clients. As a former athlete, my mentality is focused on hard work and repetition. I emphasize the importance of perfecting my craft through repetition, consistency, knowledge, and focus. My understanding of how the human body works, along with my background as an athlete help me provide high quality work to my clients every single day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would tell them off tops to grab food and drinks then go to London Boats, and enjoy riding around in a Duffy boat viewing the naple canals. For an evening of food, music and fun hit up Panama Joe’s. If you’re looking for a fancy sit down dinner Nick’s on 2nd or the Ordinar in downtown. For great drinks and Mexican food Kalaveras at the pike is fantastic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Earlier on in my career, a fellow massage therapist named Samantha was kind enough to let me rent out my own space within her business. During that time, I was a mobile massage therapist, so having a space to take my clients was important, and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity she gave me. Samantha continues to run her business called Mindful massage therapy.
