We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonaa Darrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonaa, how do you think about risk?
‘Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go’ – T. S. Eliot

TOSCA HONEY came to be once I was able to let go of self doubt , uncertainty and step outside of my comfort zone. I had the vision, passion and story, it just needed to be brought to life and I could not let the fear of failure hold me back.
We will not grow without taking risks.

What should our readers know about your business?
TOSCA HONEY is the art of storytelling through fragrance. Each candle is inspired and crafted after a story that will transport you there. Our elevated fragrances are composed in Grasse, France and paired with a luxurious wax blend, hand poured in San Diego, California. These exquisite ingredients are ethically sourced and animal cruelty free. The ritual of lighting a candle is one that delights the senses . It is a moment of peace and luxury, with the added bonus of intriguing and calming fragrances-something we could all use in today’s world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are so blessed to live in San Diego, when we have company we like to spend time at the beach and walk around the beach towns. The Enlightenment Gardens in Encinitas is magical and my go to. I love Old Town where you will find art, culture, diversity and the most authentic Mexican food at El Agave. We always finish the day with wine and sunsets at home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been so blessed to have the love and support from family and friends who have pushed and encouraged me along the way, and continue to do so. From my husband and children who have been there from the first thoughts of creating my brand to the friends who showed up to every event. My grandparents were an inspiration as well and always modeled passion, drive, kindness and grace. I am forever greatful.
