We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Carrillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It’s an endless pursuit that started at a very young age. Growing up in the grunge and alternative explosion of the ‘90s was something that continues to inspire to this very day. The crazy part about nut jobs like us, is that all the validation or lack there of wouldn’t ever slow us down for anything in the world. Honestly, calling it a career puts it in a “job” category, and while it’s a lot of work, it sure doesn’t feel like it when you suggest from the stage that people pick their poison and join the party… and then they do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For musicians, it’s never easy. You only have a few moments to really try to connect with people and it’s pretty special when it happens. Our music has an eclectic but familiar flavor and it helps connect people to us. We’ve learned that people respond to music that’s coming from a real place and played with them not at them. We want the world to know that while times are tough right now, the party will continue again someday and it’ll be better than ever before. People are going to let loose more than ever before and we’ll provide the jams.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, anyone who goes out of their way to support and promote deserves a shoutout. There’s nothing that motivates an artist more than someone recognizing their work unsolicited. Think of it like your high school crush noticing a trivial addition to your wardrobe as an excuse to get to talk to you. That’s why we act so weird when you compliment us. It’s a good weird, though, and we thank you for validating and inspiring us at what we do.
