Meet Joannie Lee | Business Owner | Pain Prevention Educator | Meditation and Breathwork Guide

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joannie Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joannie, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I first started Two Hands Wellness Events, my work/life balance was not a problem. As I became busier with work, the life balance was a challenge. I found myself working all the time, from answering email at 10pm at night or taking clients on my days off. In the last few years, I learned about boundaries with my clients, vendors, and for myself! The work/life balance is something I have been preaching for years! Without it, some may get anxious, overwhelmed, and stressed. I found meditation and breathwork and that has completely helped reduce any kind of stress or anxiety that comes my way. This led me to become a meditation and breathwork teacher.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Ergo Expert transpired from the Covid pandemic. Our 10 year company, Two Hands Wellness Events had to close our doors multiple times because of the mandated closures in CA. Because of the growing virtual community, I wanted to help the Work from Home community and educate in pain prevention and bring awareness to mental health through our services. The Ergo Expert: Providing Ergonomic Education, Productivity, and Comfort to your Work Space. Ergonomics is the study of people’s efficiency in their working environment. Because we come in all different shapes and sizes, ergonomic education is important. We provide different services like: 1-1 Ergo Assessments, Group Assessments, New Office Set ups, and a Train the Trainer Program. Because a majority of the community is at home, we also wanted to help support any kind of mental state that may arise. Therefore, we created “Brain Breaks” for our Corporate clients. Brain Breaks consist of stretching, breathwork and meditation. When we are all able to center and ground ourselves, we are able to become more creative and see things from a different perspective. As passionate as I am with preventative education through ergonomics, it has been a challenge because some are unaware of their ergonomics while working. Some say that their WFH situation is temporary, so they “tough” through the pain because they will be back at work soon. It’s been about a year since the beginning of the pandemic and we all have a “new norm”. Working from home might be a permanent “norm” for some. NOW is the time to take care of yourselves and those around us. To help bring awareness and ergonomic education to light, I started to the new brand: The Ergo Expert. I want to make ergonomics sexy, fun, bright, and exciting. I am teaming up with interior designers and local companies to spread the word of Wellness.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Embarcadero would be the first spot I would take my BFF. We’d grab a bite at Top Sail at Portside and walk the Embarcerdo and pretend we are tourist. Then I’d give her an option to go to Coronado or Ocean Beach Dog Beach because I can’t leave my dog, Luna behind. Then I would encourage her to obsess about my roller skates with me. Location options are: the boardwalk at Liberty Station or the smooth area infront of Panama 66 in Balboa Park. We’d eventually make our way to my favorite wine bar, Carruth in Little Italy for some wine and pizza.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a big shoutout to Ava Johanna. She is my meditation and breathwork teacher and Founder of the Academy of Breath. She gives amazing guidance and comes with years of her own personal journey that makes her relatable to me.
