We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
“You don’t need anyone but yourself” society has made us believe that true success is doing things on your own and not relying on others.
I could not imagine being where I am today if it wasn’t for relying on God and others. I don’t believe we were meant to do it all on our own. That’s too much of a burden to carry. Asking for help is not a weakness but a strength. Even as a mom I can’t do it alone. They say it takes a village to raise children and that statement could not ring more true. When I came to the realization that I couldn’t do it all on my own and learned to rely on God and other people is when I was really able to be successful
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a blogger, content creator, wife, mom and Christ-follower. Instagram is a creative outlet for me but it also allows me to be able to share my love for fashion, my family and my faith. I hope to be able to encourage others in their lives and in their walk with Christ. I am such a social person so anytime I can work with others and be creative is very exciting to me. I’ve met so many great people and worked with some awesome businesses and brands and I’m very grateful for that. In a world that is constantly changing it can be challenging to stay up to date with all the new, the numbers and the Instagram algorithm. It’s a constant reminder to not let the numbers determine your worth. I try really hard not to get stressed and have fun with it because that’s the whole reason I started in the first place. At the end of the day if I can stay true to myself. Love God and all his people then I know I’m doing something right.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I feel very grateful to live in such a great city that has so much to offer! I always enjoy having people visit because there are so many fun things to do and see here.
My favorite things to do when people come to visit is take them to all the delicious restaurants and cute coffee shops we have. My favorite brunch place is Fig Tree Cafe in Liberty Station followed by The Presley. Starting the day with some good food and coffee is a must!
People come for the weather and the beach so I always love to take people to Torrey Pines for a nice leisurely hike by the ocean. It’s my favorite hike for the speculates views of the ocean. Laying out at the beach is also nice on a more relaxed day. We also have a really cool zoo that I encourage people to check out if time permits and it’s next door to Balboa park so you can check both out in the same day.
Another favorite thing for me is going to our many cute coffee shops in the area. My favorite ones to take friends and family visiting are communal coffee (both locations) S3 Coffee Bar and Better Buzz in Hillcrest.
Old Town San Diego has such a cool vibe at night with music playing at Casa De Reyes. I like to eat at Cafe Coyote and walk around and enjoy the music and all the fun shops.
Areas that I enjoy going to for food and walking around are North Park, South Park and Liberty Station. I feel like you can’t go wrong in any of these areas for food, coffee, or ambiance!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it a million times more but I would not be the person I am today if it wasn’t for God. As a devoted Christian, God has really played a major role in my life. I am only where I am in life today because of the impact he has had in my life. I am guided through every decision I make through his word and through prayer. I am also very thankful for my family. The people who show up for me everyday and support me in everything I do. They are my biggest cheerleaders and my confidants. I know I can always rely on them no matter what.
