We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Mowry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business I knew I was embarking on a thrilling adventure into the unknown, where every challenge you face is an opportunity to grow and learn. It’s a journey where you are the captain of your ship, charting a course towards your dreams. I knew I would need to remain my own cheerleader even o the days I have so much doubt I also remind myself that successful entrepreneurs didn’t just create businesses; they crafted their own destinies. So, I embrace the process day in and day out, learn experiences, and always keep vision in sight. Just remember your story is the next chapter in the inspiring narrative of entrepreneurship.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My clothing brand is a true reflection of the California conservative lifestyle, and what sets it apart is its authentic and unique approach to fashion. I take immense pride in designing pieces that embody character and comfort and expression.

What excites me the most is the way I blend sustainability with style. Our commitment to comfortable materials and ethical production practices is at the core of my brand. I believe in responsible fashion that doesn’t compromise on quality or aesthetics.

Professionally, the journey to where I am today has been anything but easy. I started small, often faced with the challenge of breaking through in a competitive industry. I rebranded several times. My biggest down fall is I like too many things. I also what to connect with so many so I found I was trying to please to many avenues at some times. But it was my unwavering passion for the lifestyle and beliefs and my determination to bring that essence to the world through expression that kept me going.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve discovered the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and staying true to your values. Building a brand that reflects your vision takes time, effort, and a willingness to learn and grow.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s more than just clothing; it is a lifestyle. Local Babe Apparel stands for the ideals of sustainability, authenticity. Every piece created is a piece of lifestyle, and expression, about being, doing and becoming. I am here to make a positive impact on to ones that believe in them self and reminder it’s ok to believe in what you believe without apologizing. Being strong and true is an adored American trait.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Where do I even start? Being in Southern California we are spoiled I with weather, beach, mountains and desert within an hour travel time. The coast is always the go to. Grabbing Mexican food from Pollos Maria, located in down town Carlsbad. Beach walk is always a must along the board walk. Heading north to Oceanside, downtown has been totally overhauled. Stopping for a cocktail at Mission Pacific and checking out the all time favorite icon, Tom Cruise Top Gun house. If the tide is low Swami’s beach is the prime of the prime for reef combing. If the skies are not so blue the wineries are always a hot spot. Within 10 minutes from my house there’s an obscene amount of wineries. It’s always a blast to sip wine or champs from Wilson Creek and people watch. Sometimes when friends come to town they just simply enjoy lounging pool side at my house and my mini farm I have. If a friend is in town during desert season you can definitely bet we will be heading to our property in Ocotillo for some off-roading. It’s a family favorite. Both of my daughters have off road trucks their Dad built and my hubby is forever building different cars in and out the years.

From the coast, over the mountains to the desert you can always find us enjoying family and friend time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, I’d love to dedicate this shoutout to my incredible family and friends who have been my unwavering support system on this entrepreneurial journey. Without their love, encouragement, and belief in my vision, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They’ve been there through the ups and downs, celebrating the successes and providing a strong shoulder during the challenges.

I also want to give credit to the local business community and networking groups in our area. The camaraderie and exchange of ideas with fellow business owners have been instrumental in my growth. We’ve formed valuable partnerships, and their insights have been a source of inspiration.

Additionally, I’ve found immense wisdom and guidance in the pages of books. Books have been a source of motivation and knowledge that have shaped my approach to daily life and business. Dave Hollis, Jen Sinero, Cara Alwill and many more.

So, my shoutout goes to all these wonderful people and resources that have played a crucial role in shaping my journey as a small business owner. I’m truly thankful for the support and inspiration they’ve provided along the way.
