We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
As we are coming to the tail end of 2020, I am over flowing with so much gratitude for all the lessons in life. This has been a challenging year for most to say the least and for me that took on a whole new meaning. At the beginning of the Covid Pandemic I was faced with some major decisions and challenges. For the first time in the 4 years I have owned my interior design company I questioned if I should give up…. In March all my new business coming in canceled and it was understood. We were living in a world of uncertainly like no other. Before March business has slowed down but at this point, I was used to all the ebbs and flows of being a small business owner and just thought “it will come back”.

The feelings I had during this time were new and different. I questioned my talent and if I would continue on owning my business. I was depressed, confused, sad and didn’t know what to do. As Oprah stated one day as I was in the audience of a special event in Los Angeles: “When you don’t know what to do. Do nothing. Be still.” I will never forget this quote. It comes to me in times of stress and confusion. So, for 3 months I prayed, meditated, journaled, regrouped, rested and was STILL. I contemplated many different strategies for my future, who I can work for, where I can go and what I can do…. And one day I woke up and it hit me like a lightning bolt. I can NOT and will NOT give up on my interior design business that I have worked so hard for and dreamt of for so many years working for another designer. It was time, time to get back to basics and get working! Something in me shifted and I felt it in myself and the universe. Within a few weeks I had new calls and business coming in daily.

I am now very busy and really enjoying being an interior designer and a small business owner. I work long hours, but it is so rewarding to have so many wonderful clients and work with so many talented professionals in my industry in Orange County. Around the same time when things started to turn around, I was asked to be the President – Elect of the California Orange County American Society of Interior Designers. I was so honored and surprised. This was one of the many signs I am on the path that is intended for me. I am so grateful and Thank God daily for all and who are in my life, supporting me and my interior design business. I look forward to being the President of ASID OC and continuing to design beautiful spaces for years to come.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
