Meet Jayce Levi | Luthier

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayce Levi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayce, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I realized the corporation I worked for was not paying me a livable wage (despite being one of the top employees in the entire company) and continually gave raises and opportunities to people not based on merit, but on corporate politics I decided I needed to move on and create a better environment for myself

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of my ability to change how the world looks at repairs and the people who do them. I am proud that my shop looks and feels different than any guitar repair shop in the world. I am proud that I cater to students, women and other cultures that traditional guitar shops alienate and make feel less than. Rather than conform to what has been the norm for decades, I rewrote the book on how to run a guitar repair shop and I have other shops all over the world emulating what I have done here and I had always hoped to do that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Eat at Sumo Dog, Mi Tierra Bakery, Arriola’s Tortilleria, Burger Box.
Drink some iced tea and catch some local music at Little Street Music Hall.
Catch a free movie at Center Stage in Downtown Indio.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without my wife’s support, I struggled with the idea of changing paths and starting over. She really helped push me to make the right decisions for myself and my family.
