We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Alberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I knew from a very young age that my brain was wired to be more creative than analytical. Fortunately for me, my parents recognized that, and encouraged me to hone in on my craft. Now, that didn’t mean they let me slack in school or in other departments. If I wanted to focus on extra curricular activities and get a job just so I can be surrounded by fashion, that meant my school work had to be on lock. Im really glad that my parents encouraged me to be creative as well as attain business degree.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In an industry that is so saturated, such as the fashion industry, I have found that it is most important to stick to your personal style and not let trends take over. It’s so easy to go forget your roots and get caught up in what everyone else is doing. When I am in a styling rut, I like to look at what is popular, and just do the opposite. This when the real fun starts to begin, and it begins to feel a little like dress up. This is where I am most creative, surrounded by clothes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I would take them to liberty Station after picking them up from the airport. We can grab food and drinks and shop around. Then I would take them to a Reformer Pilates class! Club Pilates in Encinitas is two blocks away from the beach so after class we can take a dip in the ocean! Spending time in Carlsbad Village is a must! There are so many places to get good food at, gather content, and shop small. Sunset at the glider port in Torrey Pines is a must. My dad proposed to my mom there over 30 years ago, so I always like to take friends and show them. Nolita Hall in Little Italy is a great vibe and also showcases our proximity to the airport.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my community at Club Pilates. The amount of support and enthusiasm that is presented to me everyday, is what every young creative should receive. I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such positive, driven, and creative individuals at the studio.
