We had the good fortune of connecting with Janessa Pacheco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janessa, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I find inspiration in a variety of people and things. But I would say the people that inspire me the most are my family. The fact that they are my support system for everything has had a huge impact on me, as well as shaped me into who I am today.” I can’t even think about a time I’ve went through something in my life and they weren’t right there. They’ve given me the best advice when needed but also have held me accountable. They continuously motivate me to follow my dreams no matter what. They’ve taught me to never quit even when times get hard. They’ve always told me, “Anything is possible, as long as you put god first”. That right there, is something that sticks with me to this day. Being surrounded by so many influential people growing up is such a blessing because you’re able to be inspired constantly. For me, having younger peers means I need to be a role model. I want to be able to inspire them in every way. With everything that was given to me I want to be that for them. With all that was given to me I want to be that for them.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Getting to where I am today was quite a journey, needless to say it was all worth it. Graduating in 2020 when the pandemic first arose was one of the biggest obstacles I overcame. It’s something a lot of people can’t say they’ve experienced and its something I’ll never forget. It was honestly the taughest year I had encountered in college but I did it. It was always my dream to move down to San Diego after graduating but with the circumstances I was given, I had to put my plans and life as it felt on hold. That whole year didn’t really feel how I’ve imagined it to feel because of everything that was happening. My senior show was canceled, my graduation ceremony was canceled, graduating in 2020 didn’t really feel like an accomplishment at all. I felt out of place for a year after that up until I finally was able to have the ceremony I deserved. In 2021 I ended up following my dream and moving out here to San Diego. Thinking I can just pick up right where I left off. Well I thought wrong, It didn’t really hit me until a few months in but the saying “Not all graduates get to use their degree after they graduate” sunk in. Months passed and I had a few leads for jobs here and there but nothing changed. I found myself unmotivated to even continue to job hunt because I wasn’t seeing results. After a whole lot of trial and error, tears and realizations, It wasn’t until late november I got an offer for my dream job. I can finally say I’m an Interior Designer here in San Diego and it’s only the beginning. The Interior Design field is extremely competitive down here but I’m ready to show the world what I can do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my brothers Stephan and Sylis. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for them. As cliche as it sounds I really do believe I have the best brothers in the world. If you’re reading this I just want to say thank you. Thank you for the constant support you’ve given me no matter the circumstance. Thank you for all the motivational talks and words of wisdom you’ve spoken into my life. But most importantly, thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. You’ve always been there to pick me up when I thought I’ve failed, but you taught me that in order to be successful I needed fail. That right there changed my whole perspective and the way I looked at things. You’ve showed me that I’ve had this potential all along and I just needed push myself beyond my own limits. You both are the best, I love you.
