We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Hegel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corey, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I am working towards a career in acting. I auditioned and was accepted at The Juilliard’s Pre-College for their Drama Program. I trained in Geneva, Switzerland. I have been doing modeling work with OC Fashion Week while I attend UC Berkeley.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have done print and runway modeling at fashion shows. I am naturally shy, so I had to overcome my fears of modeling in front of a large crowd. I feel confident when I am acting because I can become someone else.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take her to Laguna Beach! I love the beach. I used to be a Laguna Beach Junior Lifeguard.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A lot of people have been supportive of my goals, including Kathy Marino, Chief Diversity Officer and President at OC Fashion Week.
