We had the good fortune of connecting with Margaux Helmholz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Margaux, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I feel inspired by asking the question, “why” before I do things, take on beliefs or listen to someone’s advice. 95% of what we do is happening at the unconscious/subconscious level, so asking the simple question of “why” I respond, act & live my life the way I do is an easy way to bring to light what is running out of my awareness. I also believe there’s so much value & wisdom that comes from looking underneath the surface level.
I’m also inspired by other authentic, heart-led leaders in different fields. I think there’s plenty of people who are “successful” & of significance, according to society’s success standards, that are leading from a place of valuing control & attention from others instead of being of service & sharing their shadows as well. Learning from soul-led leaders that value integrity & authenticity allows me to continue to tap more & more into who I really am which simultaneously allows me to support my clients in doing the same.
Experiencing new, uncomfortable experiences that push my edges inspire me to lean into where I may have played small. These kinds of situations often expand my mind to bring in more space for new, helpful ideas & ways to be of service & play more into my creativity at the same time.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sometimes it’s truly hard to explain what I do & how I support my clients with words. What I can say, is that 100% of my clients say that our time together isn’t at all like what they expect it to be & is unlike any coaching experience they’ve ever had. In an effort to explain a piece of my work, I’d say I’m an advocate for supporting high-achieving, top-earning, entrepreneurial bad-asses in breaking free from society’s achievement treadmill that is so unhealthily rewarded & applauded. I help them learn what it means to feel excited to wake up every day & to experience their external world as a direct reflection of who they really are inside.
I never planned out becoming a coach. I was in pursuit of my own personal development journey, discovering & learning about the beautiful intricacies that make me who I am & un-learning what no longer served me. I was in transition when COVID hit & felt lost as to where my life was going to take me next. While attending a self-development program, I began to attract individuals through social media & through referrals that were desiring coaching support. Unexpectedly, I fell in love with the process & became obsessed with witnessing client transformation right in front of my eyes. It was like something clicked & I realized that I had found my purpose. Within the first year & a half of beginning my practice, I ended up serving over 150 individuals through private mentorship, assisting at other personal development programs, co-facilitating seminars & certification trainings, networking events, masterclasses & more.
It wasn’t a 1, 2, 3 process though. I had to overcome my fear of public speaking, breakthrough limiting beliefs I had about my age & capabilities & began to heal past traumas from childhood. It was through being given the opportunity to serve others that very quickly brought to the surface where else in my life I needed to free myself from disempowering narratives & ways of being. I was able to do it all simultaneously because of the help of devoted mentors in my corner who saw what I was capable of before I could believe it for myself. For the first time in my life, I was supported beyond anything I’d ever experienced. We all deserve that – so I wove everything I learned from that kind of deep, empowering, one-of-a-kind support into my practice.
Most people (including who I was years ago) have a hard time receiving & asking for help. Just like anything else, it’s something that’s practiced & gets easier & easier over time. Though because of the way a vast majority of us were raised, at some point or another, we learned to survive through a really difficult & sometimes traumatic life experience(s) when no one else seemed to be there for us. So at the unconscious level, we believed that we needed to “figure it out all on our own”, “take the lone wolf path”, or “no one else can be there for us the way we can.” And I’m here to declare that we aren’t meant to walk this journey of life alone anymore. The only way we get out of survival & into overflow in all aspects of life is by learning how to receive. And that’s one aspect of what I support my clients in.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Appreciating taking a moment to celebrate & recognize the different mentors I’ve had throughout my life & entrepreneurship journey this far. I wouldn’t be where I am today without having taken the leap & investing 4 figures in my first mentor at 18 years old because from there, I’ve continued to invest into different levels of mentorship, trainings & programs that were supportive of where I was headed next. I stand by investing in mentorship as the accelerated path through life. Plus, life is so much easier & fun with a support system in your corner.
