Meet Jamal Marrush | Licensed Insurance Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamal Marrush and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamal, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Having worked in the insurance industry for over a decade, I decided to take the huge step forward and start my own insurance agency. I wanted to take the knowledge and experience I had and put it towards good use. It was important for me to create a business that provided more than just the solicitation of insurance products. My goal was to educate and empower my clients to make informed decisions about their insurance coverage and needs by helping them navigate the complexities of the insurance world, while also helping them build a long-term plan. My agency specializes in Medicare, Annuities, Life, Health, Disability and Long-Term-Care insurance, all key components in helping individuals protect themselves and their families against the unknown. It has been an incredibly fulfilling experience helping my clients feel secure in knowing they have made sound decisions when it comes to their insurance and financial needs.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am proud to lead an insurance agency that specializes in a wide range of insurance products. Our focus is to educate clients about the ins and outs of their policies and to develop a personalized strategy to meet their specific needs. We approach insurance as a form of financial planning and this is reflected in the recommendations and advice we provide to our clients.
What sets us apart is our commitment to going above and beyond for our clients. We take the time to fully understand their needs and goals, and we work with them to develop a plan that provides the protection they need, while also aligning with their financial objectives. Unfortunately in today’s environment, insurance has become a transactional business, and transactional sales leads to “customers” that are most often unaware of how their policy works and important details of their coverage. It was vital to me to have a business model where our goal was to remove the transactional experience and provide an advisory service where we develop life-long relationships with our clients. This level of personalized attention is what makes us unique and sets us apart from others in the industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to showing a friend the best time ever in San Diego, there is no end to the possible fun and great things to do. One of the things I love most about San Diego is its proximity to other exciting destinations, such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Tijuana. So, we would definitely take a day trip or two to explore some of these areas as well.
I would start by introducing them to some of the San Diego’s most iconic attractions, such as the USS Midway Museum, Balboa Park as well as our coastal areas and famous beaches. For me, a big part of the San Diego experience is being outdoors and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. That’s why I would make sure to include a visit to Torrey Pines State and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
In terms of exploring some of the other amazing areas around San Diego, I would most definitely take my friend across the border to Mexico. There are so many great things to do, eat and see in Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe, all of which are within an hour and a half from the border. The hidden gem amongst those is Valle de Guadalupe, which is Mexico’s equivalent to Napa, California’s wine country.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, my wife Brittanie. She has been an amazing partner and supporter in life and is my foundation. Without her encouragement to start my own agency, I don’t know if I would have. Additionally, major recognition needs to be given to Joseph Hassin. He has been my mentor ever since I got into the insurance industry over a decade ago. Joseph took me under his wing and gave me all the knowledge and experience I have today. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for him.
