We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaime, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve been doing hair for 26 years and have owned my salon for 16 years. In an effort to help my clients look and feel good on the inside and out, I recently launched Jaime Nicole Beauty Collagen. After struggling with joint pain in my hands and tennis elbow from doing hair for nearly 3 decades and hearing my clients desires to grow stronger hair and nails, I developed the pure and scientifically-proven formula along with industry experts.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
By 27 I was a single mom to my two year old son, and boy, was I
feeling the pinch of working for
other people’s dreams. By day I’d
be at the sink washing hair – by
night moonlighting for Arbonne, a
direct sales company selling
makeup and skincare products.
So this was the deal: for 3 months
in a row I had to sell $150k a
month to be crowned the regional
vice president with a team (and a
swish new Mercedes Benz).
But I did it!
And used the money from
building that company to pour
into my award-winning salon,
Over the years I have been through many obstacles but have always learned from them and had a thriving business for nearly two decades. I saw sales increase through the 2008 recession, through the 2020 pandemic and (likely) through the next economic downturn. With the recent launch of Jaime Nicole Beauty Collagen we have been able to not only make our clients and customers feel and look good on the outside but now on the inside as well. What sets us apart from other collagens is our proprietary blend has had multi million dollar clinical studies done on it proving it works and scientifically backed. We are beyond excited about what it’s doing for people with not only their hair, skin, and nails, but also their pain.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming into town first I would take her to Jaime Nicole Salon in Vista to get her hair done so she doesn’t have to mess with it for the week. Then I would take her to Americas number one ballpark Petco Park in downtown to see our Padres play. The next day I would take her to Mama Kats in San Marcos for breakfast and then to the La Jolla Cove to see the sea lions and for dinner that night we would go to The Marine Room in La Jolla so we can watch the waves while we dine. The rest of the trip we would make sure to get in the Wild Animal Park, Mount Solidad Veterans Memorial, Seaport Village and catch a concert at the Rady’s Shell Theatre.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my children. I was a single mom when I opened my business. My son’s an aspiring anesthesiologist, studying at UCSD. My daughter’s a little more wild into jui-jitsu and basketball. Together? They’re my why. Why I am in this game. And why I wanna help you.
