We had the good fortune of connecting with Iris Miyasaki and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Iris, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of my business ultimately came from collective personal experiences and my professional background. Fashion and organization have always been a big part of my life. Since I was three-years-old, I’ve been dressing myself and filling my closet with pieces that genuinely make me happy and feel great. Having moved eight times in the past 12 years, I’ve become a pro at being organized and cognizant of what is essential, and separating the excess.

Fast forward to today, having worked in the fashion industry in New York City and another home organizing team in Seattle, I realized I could create a business out of doing what I love.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Wardrobe by Saki, we’ve combined organization and fashion styling to bring you your Closet Editor, Iris Miyasaki. With her guidance and your trust, we provide a personal approach to updating, styling, and elevating your wardrobe. Similar to how you hire an interior designer or contractor, you need a Closet Editor to upgrade your life too.

Organization pairs so well with styling because when your closet looks great, you get dressed with enthusiasm, and in turn, you feel like your best self. Our goal is to create an authentic yet unexpected wardrobe collection tailored just for you, along with organizational systems that are sustainable to your lifestyle.

This is where minimal effort meets maximum style — every time you walk in and out of your closet (and home).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Seattle has a great balance of city and nature. With it being so close to the mountains and ocean, you can easily do a breathtaking hike in the morning and have a cocktail at a cool bar by happy hour. I’d recommend getting a little taste of everything. Here are some of my favorite spots below.

Brunch – London Plane, Dreamland, Biscuit Bitch
Cocktails/Wine – Deadline, The Pharmacy, Bottlehouse
Dinner – Mezzanotte, Pink Door, Walrus & The Carpenter, Pablo y Pablo, Sushi Kashiba, Shiro’s
Hike – Northern Cascades, Mt. Rainier
Drive – visit one of the San Juan Islands

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When it comes to this business, my partner, Erin, has been through it all with me. She saw Wardrobe by Saki when it was just a mess of notes and scribbles in my planner, She really gave me the push and encouragement I needed to make the leap from the confines of a “normal job”. It’s still very scary, and whenever I doubt myself or second guess what I’m doing, she lifts my spirits and believes in me.

I’ve also been so incredibly lucky to have met many kind and successful women along the way that have given me the best encouragement and advice.

Without all of them, I wouldn’t be able to do this!
