Meet Holly Barr | Realtor/Broker Associate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Barr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Wow! What a great question!
I would have to say it’s a combination of different habits that all work together.
The first habit is to “Never Stop Learning”. I’m always researching, learning, and reading. I read at least one new book each month whether it be real estate, business related or a self help book. With this said I schedule at time in my busy schedule to read 4-5 times a week.
My second habit is scheduling. I use a hand written calendar. I schedule by weeks on a weekly basis, usually on Friday for the upcoming week. At the end of the day I also review each day just to make sure I completed my to do list and take a look ahead for the next day.
My third habit is to create monthly goals for myself in different categories. These categories include Personal Growth, Relationships, Health & Fitness, Family & Home, Work, Finances, and Fun & Adventure. Once I create my goals for the month, I come up with 2-3 ideas on actionable ways how I’m going to achieve these goals for the month. I also schedule time in my schedule to do these actionable items to get me closer to achieving my goals.
My fourth and last habit is working out at least 5 times a week. I truly believe to be successful you need to be healthy and take care of yourself on a physical level. I do a combination of different works outs such as pilates, dance, barre, strength training, interval training, cardio, etc. I am always trying something new to switch it up. Life is too short to do the same workout every day! Or at least that’s one of my moto’s.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is another great question… Oh my goodness! There are so many awesome places in San Diego County. It’s so hard to pick but let me take a shot at it.
Day 1:
First off, I’m guessing I would be picking my friend up from the airport… So the first thing on the itinerary is to check out Little Italy, take a walk and of course grab some grub & perhaps a glass of wine to drink while catching up.
While we are close to Downtown, I would also take them down to Seaport Village to see the shops and the harbor/pier. while catching the sunset on the water.
Day 2:
The next item on the itinerary would be to take them down to the beach whether it’s in La Jolla, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, etc. All are such great choices to catch some rays, people watch & enjoy some local food/restaurants.
After the beach, I’m thinking we head down to Old Town to check out the local history, do some shopping, grab a tasty margarita and some fresh homemade tortillas! Yum!
While where in the Old Town area, the next stop would be the Fashion Valley Mall. While we are there we will do some high end shopping and end the day with a movie at AMC Theater. Also perhaps go to the new Tommy Bahama restaurant/bar so I can pretend I’m on vacation too! I love the vibe/decor there! It’s one of my favorites, I like to close my eyes and pretend I’m on a beach in Maui.
Day 3:
For the next day, I’m thinking we pack a lunch and go on a local adventure to our local mountains such as Palomar Mountain. While we are on the mountain, we’ll check out the local hiking trails, enjoy the nature and amazing views of the county. On the way back to town, we’ll stop by Harrah’s Southern California Resort and Casino or Pala Casino to play some slot machines & enjoy some dinner at one of their great restaurants. After this all day adventure, I’m thinking it will be a night in.
Day 4:
For the next and final full day in Sunny San Diego, I’m thinking we hit up one of our local amusement park such as Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo or Legoland. I’ll be nice and let my friend pick which one they would prefer to go too. HAHA! Everyone has their own preference right? All three are so great. Personally if it was my pick it would be the San Diego Zoo. I love all the animals especially the monkeys. They are my favorites.
After a day at a local amusement park, we are going to be getting ready to go to a local bar, club or restaurant to see my husband, Brian Barr aka Mr. DeeJay to rock the decks. I’m guessing it will probably be at one of his residency spots such as Waterbar or Backyard in Pacific Beach. We’ll enjoy a drink and will dance the rest of the evening away.
Day 5:
For the last half day in San Diego, we are headed to Balboa Park to check out some local museums before heading to the airport. We’ll grab a quick lunch/happy hour at The Prado to end our visit. One last great meal while laughing and planning our next adventure/trip together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, Brian Barr. He is so understanding of my hectic schedule, habits and goals.
