We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Soubeyrand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helena, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Like a lot of artists my thoughts and sensitivity can literally eat my brain. Be alive with all the things we kept inside and all the informations we can have of how difficult the world can be participate a lot of creating a lot of anxiety. The only way (so far) I found to focus my thoughts and my emotions is Art. It heals me in a way. So I needed to spend my days doing it. So it has become a profession, because I spend my days on doing that, naturally.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an actress since I’m 15 and I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I’m looking for the same things in both, to be lost, and to explore. My drawing are essentially human faces, introspective look, because like in acting, the thoughts of our characters are always the most interesting and what we are looking for to built. That’s what makes us human, what makes our interactions with others. And I’m passionate about that. Like a lot of actress sadly, I had a lot of deception on working with “male director” we were not at the same place, and I felt the need to create alone. And I just begin to share my drawings on Instagram without any expectations. I felt vulnerable because I shared a private part of me and my sister coach me a lot! Out of my confort zone for sure! And a first brand contact me for a collaboration and an other, and without controlling I began to had more and more experiences, and I kept practicing. And so far it still goes well 🙂
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh I miss travelling so much, with the covid, this places seems so far away. Definitely not one place but let say Europe 🙂 Lisbon, the food oh my god, the people are so sweet, everything is sweet. Corsica is the most beautiful and powerful place I’ve been, Paris for me is the most interesting place, museum, theater everywhere (miss that a lot too) and my favorite place to eat and drink is the Restaurant CACHÉ in the 20th arrondissement, favorite museum in Musée Bourdelle, hopefully opening soon again…
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, my husband, my daughter, my mother, my friends.
