We had the good fortune of connecting with Heidi Edsall Maggie Lane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heidi Edsall, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Heidi: I am from the Northwest and grew up on a small Island in the Puget Sound surrounded by nature. I grew up in a very sports oriented family and spent most of my childhood traveling to softball or baseball tournaments or playing in the woods. I’ve been a practicing outpatient orthopedic physical therapist for 12 years, after receiving my doctoral degree in physical therapy from Azusa Pacific University. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to interior design and decor. I have always felt a deep connection to my surroundings. And while I love helping people recover from pain or injury, I decided to turn my passion for interior design and vintage curating into something more. I love the freedom and creativity that comes with reimagining a space or thinking of how a one-of-a-kind vintage piece can be incorporated into someone’s home.

Maggie: Born and raised in Southern California however my design and artistic influences are mainly from my maternal side of the family…all whom have a love and appreciation for decor, design, creating, building, working with their hands and doing anything artistic. They all grew up in Michigan and spent most of their young lives working and restoring a Victorian Farmhouse. Everytime I would go and visit my grandparents there I would become enthralled with all of its beauty. The scenery, location, nature, the timeless architecture and all its lovely vintage and antique characteristics. Growing up I would also accompany my Mom and Grandma on Antique Hunts. All these things helped shaped me into the designer I am today and gave me a basis for the passion and appreciation I have for vintage and keeping the spirit of it alive in design.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others in our field, we not only curate and sell vintage but we style it and create amazing photographic inspiration to go along with it. for our customers and clients. When we partake in vintage markets we go the extra mile and create beautiful spaces using all of our merchandise creatively to help give people that vision to see how certain items can be reused. It helps promote sustainable shopping and how to incorporate pieces that have a history or story and that add character into your home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It really depends on the friend but if they enjoy vintage we would take them to Ventura, which offers a very historic atomosphere and pretty views of the coastline. We could spend the morning at the Ventura Flea Market and then head to Main Street for lunch at Finney’s followed by exploring all the sweet boutique and decor small business shops and thrift stores on Main.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We actually get a lot of inspiration from each other oddly enough. We cheer each other on, celebrate our differences, and share a passion for all things vintage and interior design. We often get inspired by design choices or processes that helps drive us to grow and be more creative. We are also so fortunate to get a lot of love and support from our families. When we are finishing up a big project, or participating in a big vintage market, our families really take the “all hands on deck” approach to help us pull these things off. Whether it is our husband’s being our handymen or helping with with heavy lifting/loading, to even our kids coming to cheer us on. We definitely have an amazing support system.
