We had the good fortune of connecting with Hat Pin Panic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hat Pin Panic, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Individually and as a band we welcome risk. As artists, we know there’s always going to be a certain amount of risk involved in all aspects of the process – writing, performing, recording, trying to get on playlists, trying to get people to come out to shows.

Taking risks requires a certain amount of believing — in oneself and in the band. In the case of music, it’s ultimately rewarding to share music with others. In order to do that, artists have to put themselves “out there” and that requires taking risks. It also requires a certain amount of trust to get where we all want to go.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
These misfits formed as a party band in 2018 and have been playing ever since. Hat Pin Panic is a 4-person band from Los Angeles. Members, Danita Lynne (drums), Eric Edmond Vasquez (guitar and vocals), Chris Simental (guitar and vocals), and Jenifer Roosevelt (bass and vocals), come together out of a shared love and enjoyment of making music.

Our creative effort is rooted in a genuine appreciation for musical art and artists. We write from a place of introspection and visceral connection to the social, political, and natural landscape.

As a band, we strive to make dynamic music that weaves together the members’ eclectic styles and interests. We say “yes, and…” co-creating a delightful sonic adventure. Hat Pin Panic believes in rollicking music that brings people to their feet for an electrified, booty-shaking good time. This merry band of misfits has always had a passion for fun.
