We had the good fortune of connecting with GOZ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi GOZ, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being authentic. That’s 100% it! Everything I do starts genuinely out of pure love for the art & the hustle. And whether they love it or hate it, people see that. When you’re building with love & showing love to others as well there’s no way you can’t succeed!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Reppin’ both We$t Coa$ts, GOZ is a Nigerian Artist, Content Creator, & Entrepreneur! Recently, he’s been featured on Sway In The Morning’s #BEDROOMBARS, the LA Voyager, & OnThaRize Magazine for his 2020 single, OG ROOKIE! With the release of his latest single, Free Black, another side of the artist was finally born through his music in response to the new age Revolution that’s been taking place this year. That being said, he will hopefully be dropping more of this Afro-Hip hop fusion music soon as he says he’s been waiting to showcase what else he’s been working on! GOZ’s 1st album, SZN 1: Gametime (2019), is everything it was foreshadowed to be in Pre-SZN & more! HARD hittin’ hip hop, trap, & jazz infused tracks from start to finish and with a DOPE message overall; this project is SOLID! His 1st EP, Pre-SZN (2018), is a new wave, hip hop/trap style project that demonstrates GOZ’s musical versatility & discusses the various trials, tribulations, & triumphs he’s already experienced in his young life while he looked forward to his future. GOZ graduated from San Diego State (2019); known for his student leadership & MCing/performing on campus & in the SD community, the university has contracted him twice for special performances! He’s also been featured in the SD Voyager twice before & he’s performed at clubs like Fluxx in Downtown SD & even Coko Bongo in Rosarito! Before pursuing music as well, the OG Rookie got his start producing content for social media outlets in 2013 & a variety of companies/clients soon followed as GOZ and his partner officially built their business, Visionary Media, in 2017. He also had the pleasure of being a special guest on social media tours (2014-2016) such as BraveFest & Events Fusion Live in LA & SD which undoubtedly put him in position to gain more exposure early in his career.  (Visionary Media is a West coast based, Black-owned media business, specializing in videography, photography, and media marketing. Long time best friends and Nigerian brothers, Daniel Alade (COO) and GOZ (CEO) have been running the company since they founded it in 2017.)

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
No, but just like Nipsey said, “I just didn’t quit”; may he continue to rest in peace. I still haven’t and I still won’t and that’s the main reason I’ve overcome my challenges. I’ve learned that a lot of things will come for you in this life, trying to knock you off your path for a variety of reasons, warranted or unwarranted…expected or unexpected, but at the end of the day the question is, are you going to let them!? That’s the difference between me and my demons. My mindset and work ethic got ’em goin’ crazy as they come for me! Lmao! All in all, I want the world to know that you can truly obtain anything in this world, you just have to be willing to go far enough to get it. And as you do go out there, do it with love, do it with passion, and just do you! No cap! I’m in this 4L and I’m going all the way because that’s the only option I see for myself so I’ll see it all the way through and be an example of success for my people. #BLACKLIVESMATTER

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Due to covid, I’d like to delete this question from the article please!
