Meet Ginni Sobti | Entrepreneur | Founder of Ginni’s World

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ginni Sobti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ginni, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business because I noticed something was missing. I wanted gifts and decor that actually felt personal and inclusive—especially for people like me with Indian and South Asian names and traditions. But I couldn’t really find many options that reflected that. So I decided to create them myself.
What started as an idea to celebrate individuality and bring a little extra joy has grown into something so much bigger. Now, I get to share my creativity, connect with amazing customers, and make high-quality products that tell people’s stories. It’s been such a rewarding journey turning this small idea into a space where people truly feel seen and celebrated.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ginni’s World really started from something personal—I noticed there weren’t many gift options that felt inclusive or celebrated people with names and traditions like mine. I wanted to change that and create gifts and decor that actually mean something—items that feel personal, thoughtful, and full of joy.
What makes us different is the love and detail we put into everything. From personalized ornaments and recipe boards to corporate gifts and laser-engraved pieces, everything we make is designed to tell a story. One of my favorite memories is when a customer shared a video of their mom crying after receiving a recipe board. It had her late mother’s handwritten recipe engraved on it, and it meant the world to her. Those kinds of moments are why I do this—because these aren’t just products, they’re keepsakes that hold real emotions and memories.
Getting here definitely hasn’t been easy. Starting a business from scratch already comes with challenges. I had to deal with shortages, delays, and just figuring out how to keep things going. On top of that, I was also diagnosed with breast cancer last year, which has been one of the hardest battles of my life. Balancing treatment while running a business wasn’t easy, but it gave me an even stronger sense of purpose. Creating these meaningful gifts became not just work, but something healing for me, too.
Through all of it, I’ve learned that authenticity and resilience matter most. When you create from the heart, people connect with that. And when you keep pushing forward, even in the hardest seasons, it’s amazing to see how far you can go.
For me, Ginni’s World is more than a business—it’s about celebrating individuality, creativity, and connection. I want every customer to feel seen and celebrated when they get something from us.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to show them the best San Diego—the perfect mix of sun, food, and fun. We’d start with brunch at The Henry’s or Beach Plum Kitchen in Carlsbad, grabbing fresh pastries or a hearty omelet, then stroll through Carlsbad Village, popping into cute shops, galleries, and checking out the local street art.
Of course, we’d spend some time at the local beach—Tamarack Surf Beach and Carlsbad State Beach are perfect for a walk, soaking up the sun, or just watching the surfers. Moonlight Beach is another favorite.
For dinner, I’d take them into San Diego to Leila in North Park—amazing Mediterranean-inspired food in a fun, vibrant setting. If we are closer to home then Amalfi and 264 Fresco are our go-tos. Afterward, we’d hit up a rooftop bar in Little Italy for cocktails and city views. And, of course, no visit would be complete without dessert at Salt & Straw or Handel’s Ice Cream—two of my favorite spots for indulgent treats.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my family and close friends, whose unwavering love, encouragement, and belief in me have been the foundation of my journey. Their support gave me the confidence to take risks and pursue my dream of starting my own business. I also want to recognize the incredible women in my local community—the SHEs of SEH. I also want to give a shoutout to the amazing women in my local community—the SHEs of SEH. Their strength, creativity, and the way they lift each other up is so inspiring. Being part of this group has pushed me to grow, step outside my comfort zone, and cheer on others as they succeed too.
