We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Allen Paul Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriel Allen Paul, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Ultimately, photographers invest a lot of time and money into making sure the process is seamless. From simply location scouting, session planning, and most importanly, photo editing, everything about photography requires some sort of sacrifice of my own. Initiating GVBE was without a doubt, a long, forgiving experience and I cannot go about it differently. Though it may seem such a chore, I loved (and still do) the opportunity to be creative, meeting new people and hearing about their stories, but especially seeing the end product. People can only see the half of the process, but I love every single little thing about it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a creative artist, the most difficult portion of the process is determining the style I am approaching. It’s easy to say that my specialty is portraiture, but to be more specific, I love everything about fashion and self-expression. Being able to grasp one’s style and idealism behind clothing, jewelry, or hobbies is one of the key successes in my professional career. I tend to ask my clients “what look are you going for?” or “how do you go about the style of our session?” Although it may be tough to express ourselves sometimes, GVBE allows everyone, including myself, to take charge of this. And this is what I am most proud of. Under my direction as well as my clients, we are able to create our own story behind the photo.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Orange County has been very interesting. First, I would initiate a food spot (either my preferred locations or theirs). There’s lots to visit. Afterwards, living in SoCal has been a great opportunity to visit the beach, hiking trails, and lots of shopping malls. As the day proceeds, we would continue the evening with some drinks at a brewery. Very fun! Lastly, visiting nightclubs has been a big part of my college/post-graduate experience so we would have a few options around the county.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Along the process also requires some sort of motivation. I would personally like to give the recognition to my girlfriend, Julia, and my best friend, Brandon, who have shown the most interest and support throughout my creative journey from the beginning to now. This goes to show how much I’ve felt from the moment I clicked to take the first photo. Without these supporters in my life, I would have never been able to spark my long interest of photography. As a matter of a fact, photography became my gateway into my career today. I have desired to be in the industry of digital creative arts and I can honestly say that I have made it. To Julia and Brandon, thank you for allowing me to share my experiences during this long journey with you. Without your support, GVBE would never have been a big of part my life.
