We had the good fortune of connecting with Froilan Hinojosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Froilan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The fact that you have to respond to no one about what to do or how to do it did it for me. I was raised on the belief of starting or doing something for yourself regardless of the magnitude, having something you can call your own is an amazing feeling. It’s important to instill this in someone as a kid I believe, because you see it all the time people who are just complacent or have no drive & thankfully as a very young kid I was taught “I don’t want you waking up at 3am like me” as my dad would say to me & both my parents have been incredibly supportive in whatever i’ve wanted to do they have pushed me & just motivated me to keep going. The thought became bigger than I could have ever imagined, I know i’m a guppy in this space but i’m eternally grateful for the support I’ve received & just the love overall it’s really been crazy to me.

What should our readers know about your business?
What I do is buy & sell sought after streetwear brands that sell out in seconds/minutes. The one thing that sets me apart though is my customer service & my pricing, I take pride in that. Anyone who has bought something from me knows they get the best service possible whether your in Pennsylvania or local to me & most people who are in this business lack that trait because the money and greed gets involved. As for the pricing, If I can’t get something for a good price to give my customers an even better price compared to what people charge I will not buy it. There is a market for everything I sell & people charge outrageous numbers because people want those pieces but as I say im in the people business not the profit business. Im where im at because of the people who have shown love & how I’ve treated everyone who has. It took me a whole year of buying before I started selling anything at all, almost all the money I earned at my job went towards buying & sometimes you just can’t get what you want & it’s frustrating more than anything knowing that one thing was THE piece but you missed out because the website glitched or your card got declined etc. I have learned so much & still to this day learn things, sometimes I buy things I shouldn’t buy or I hold items too long. Sometimes you just gotta learn to let go of the piece & keep recycling the money & that just comes with time. I remember in the beginning I would get so psyched out In getting a certain amount and holding it until it sells at MY number but that is the WORST thing I could have done because the money stops moving at that point, any business owner will tell you. You must keep the money moving. A little Summary of what my business consists of is I acquire some of the rarest & coolest pieces in the world, can find for these brands & I sell them for the best price possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If it was during baseball season, would definitely have to go to a Padres game & go walk around gas lamp on a weekend after a game. K1 Speed & Bowling are my go to if I want to do something fun or the Museums in Balboa Park. A cruise around the bay & under the Coronado Bridge is a good way to show off the city of San Diego, there are so many little things to do here. If the city isn’t their favorite we have too many little “beach cities” that are pretty lowkey with a lot of good food in them. I personally don’t like the city vibe much but it is nice to go once in a while. San Diego is pretty much the best city, we get amazing beaches, the dunes, and if you really want to go to the snow Palomar or Julian are really nice places to go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are too many people i’d like to give a shoutout to. My parents for instilling in me this mindset but also my girlfriend for supporting me & coming to events at 4am but also every single person who has ever even just shouted me out on their story. Oh also everyone from Ebay, Instagram and Whatnot who have shown me nothing but love. I can’t just give thanks or shout out one person because everyone who I just mentioned has played a huge role in the creation & ongoing process of my business. Without one of them none of this could have happened.
