We had the good fortune of connecting with Ferruva Team and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ferruva Team, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea stemmed from exposing Mexican culture and its richness to the fashion industry, where it is not very present, along with being able to have the freedom to express without having constraints. Overall, having Mexican representation made sense in an industry that lacked this presence.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ferruva was a concept that came across our minds while looking at the fashion industry. Vanessa is much more fashion orientated than myself, but we agreed that this industry needed a change, a brand that represented the unique qualities, characteristics, and values that our cultural heritage possesses. We figured that we wanted to ensure that Mexican culture, customs, and uniqueness along with value are represented in fashion, but also showcasing that it did not have to be all folklore, but the actual Mexican thought process in fashion. The journey was not easy, we struggled to find an identity, to be able to ensure that we did not deviate into a folklore brand, but to show that the talent present and what Mexico offered was not just that, but the same quality that is associated with other Italian, French, German or English brands. We are excited to showcase what Mexico can offer and the true potential in fashion. Once we agreed on how we wanted to portray ourselves, we fought and pursued to bring the best that Mexico can offer, and despite skepticism from many people, we are constantly working on improving and showcasing the best. We learned that the road is not easy, but definitely joyful if you are constantly working towards showing the world what your culture, heritage, and the value it has is all about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If they were to visit San Diego, we would definitely take them to the Gaslamp District in downtown to enjoy the scenery. We would have breakfast in Pendry, and possibly have some coffee in Achilles Coffee Roasters on Cortez Hill. Then take them to Balboa Park to enjoy the gardens and the area, along with snacks in the local shops. We would definitely go to Coronado to enjoy the beach, the hotel, and the overall calmness of the area. Possibly go to La Jolla during the week to enjoy the sunsets, hike up in the Torrey Pines area and have a nice dinner. As well, visit the breweries that reside in Chula Vista and enjoy some wine in the local shops by the northern downtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to thank friends and family, all of those who believed in the story that we want to tell, and the people we wish to reach. We have overcome many struggles to get this far, and this is only the beginning, we hope to make you all proud and enjoy the success that we will achieve with all your support and effort.
