We had the good fortune of connecting with Felipe Loureiro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Felipe, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Loyalty is the principle that matters most to me because that is key to a successful coaching/athlete relationship. It is common in my industry for people to jump around and believe the grass is greener on the other side. If an athlete is loyal and sticks it out with me, the connection deepens over time and I can bring out the best in them.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I believe has always set me apart from others is consistency. Competitors have come and gone in my business more times than I can count. I’ve always stayed true to my vision and coaching philosophy and never second guessed myself based on what others are doing. Building my business has never been easy. When I came to the United States, I didn’t speak any English. There were a lot of obstacles with my language barrier and figuring out how to navigate a new country. My passion for the sport of triathlon and coaching others has always helped me overcome any obstacle I have faced in this business. If you believe deeply in what you are doing, obstacles are just small bumps along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my best friend to Caroline’s Seaside Cafe In La Jolla for brunch. The owner/chef Giuseppe Ciuffa makes amazing food and the seating area has views of the entire La Jolla Shores Coastline/ La Jolla Pier. We would also go for a hike up Torrey Pines and enjoy some more incredible views from the cliffs. Since my best friend loves cycling as much as I do we would head inland to Palomar Mountain which is my favorite place in San Diego to ride. We would also swing my my favorite coffee/kombucha bar TRVLR Coffee Roaster. The best coffee on the planet!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mom. She has been there for me through all of my ups and downs. She is my biggest fan and has always supported my journey. One of the biggest reasons I made the decision to move from Brazil to the US was because my mom encouraged me to go for it. She was a single mom raising 3 kids and she always wanted me to follow my dreams.
