We had the good fortune of connecting with Fawn ® and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fawn, what matters most to you?
The value and principles of honesty and integrity matter most to me. Without that, you have nothing. There’s no building relationships, career or an effective personal life in general because everything is false and there is no moving forward in a positive direction.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a singer-songwriter, composer and recording artist. I also do modeling, jingles and voice-over’s and I am a published author. I am also an airbnb superhost and I am in the top 5% of private music coaches in the Unites States. I teach private lessons in piano, all things voice, songwriting, acting and hip hop/rap. My students have been on America’s Got Talent, The Voice, American Idol and some have achieved the top 8 on those shows. I think what sets me apart from others is my honesty and my ‘never give up, never surrender’ belief and drive, as well as my willingness to continue to grow and learn and help others elevate to their best selves. I think any ‘success’ I have achieved has been through continual faith, determination, hard work, honing in on my craft and a willingness to listen to critiques, without allowing them to shut me down or stop me from moving forward. Years ago, some one very close to me, who I considered a very dear, cherished friend told me over dinner one night that he “just didn’t see me ever going anywhere” with my voice and music. I was shattered and devastated. But I picked myself back up and pressed ahead, in spite of his opinion. From that, I learned that most of the time, some one’s opinion has more to do with their own opinion of themselves, it’s about them, not you. Studying other artists with their improvements and successes kept me striving to be the best me that I could be, and I am still a work in progress, constantly growing and learning! Everyone is 100% unique and special and there is room for everyone. The only competition is the one looking back at you in the mirror. I believe the idea of success and the word itself can be a trap for many people and cause them to give up on their dreams. Once you realize that there is NO failure, then whatever you accomplish, is a gift, a blessing, a win. Is it an easy journey? No! But most things worth having aren’t easy to achieve. Success is as easy as a mindset. Change your mind and you change your life. For me, success is giving to others, loving myself and loving what I do. There is nothing materialistic about success for me. I see so many of my wealthy friends and colleagues miserable because they have been dishonest, compromised their morals and walked all over people to get where they are. I don’t care how many Grammy nominations or awards you have, if you’ve torn down people and gotten where you are by dishonest means, then you are not what I consider a success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would find out what THEY are interested in and tailor make the experience for them. But in general, I think Universal Studios, Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Disneyland, The Reagan Library, Catalina Island, Santa Barbara, Solvang, The Huntington Gardens, The Queen Mary are all must-sees. One of my favorite restaurants is Sun Café’. Their vegan nachos and kale shakes are epic.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God, Margaret Olive Drake, Joyce Meyer, Cher Rue, John Palisano, John Campbell Drake.
