We had the good fortune of connecting with Faith Rowley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Faith, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
I have recently made the decision to pull back on the quantity of weddings I will photograph each year after this wild year of 2021. Most vendors were swamped with double if not triple the normal bookings and it opened my eyes. The year flew by, I missed important moments, I let my own life pass me by, and I had no time to give true individualized support to each and every client. It is a difficult decision to choose quality over quantity but one I believe to be so important. I am transforming my experience so that I provide an extremely individualized experience. I am also coming back to myself in that choice. I will have more time to have my own experiences and live my own life so that I can be greater inspired to create really unique work for my clients.

What sets Faith Rowley Photos apart from others is that we simply care. We give back photos that will last for years to come while giving an incredible experience to our clients and our clients families. We guide them along the way and make the entire process fun and easy.
It was by no means easy to get to where we are today. We have now added team members this past year which was also a new step for me! I overcame the challenges by coming up with solutions and having a bit of faith that this is where I am meant to be and where I am meant to be headed. As humans it is so easy to doubt ourselves but doubt is the very thing that can hold us back. If I could go back in time I would tell myself to take more risks and to lean into my faith even further. Everything will work out in the end.
I want the world to feel our work. To be moved by it. I don’t want the world to know me. I want the world to be able to recognize the feeling and energy our work gives off.
My story didn’t come about as a picture perfect one. It was messy and twisted. Photographing and connecting with clients and sharing stories healed me in a way. I need this business just as much as my clients need us. It fuels me and brings me so much joy!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re touring Detroit for the day I would begin the morning at Dessert Oasis downtown and take a stroll along the River Walk after. For lunch I would stop at Parc finishing off with Dinner and drinks for the evening at the Apparatus room and at the Rooftop overlooking Detroit at the Monarch Club!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story would not be what it is today if it were not for my hardships that pushed me to the place I am in this moment. If it were not for the doubters, the naysayers, and the moments I felt like I had hit rock bottom I am not sure I would have been able to achieve what I have. I also want to give back some credit to self help books. Two of my favorite authors are David Goggins and Glennon Doyle. My clients who have given me their complete trust are also people who should be thanked for my success. They are the literal people who have let my business bloom into what it is. If it were not for their initial trust I would be nothing. God plays a huge portion in my story too. When I didn’t know where my story was to go He paved the way. I cannot tell you how many things just simply fell into place for me. Don’t get me wrong I have shed my blood, sweat, and tears along the way but a lot of things led one thing to another.
