Meet Emmitt Summers | CEO of Redemption Energy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmitt Summers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emmitt, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success is our talent. Talent wins.
When you build a business, you have to create a compelling vision, mission, and model.
Then, you recruit, train, nurture, inspire, and grow the team.
The team will take care of the business and the customers.
I have been blessed to have worked with my friends, family, and the best talent in our industry (Renewable Energy).
Over the past 15 years, we have helped 100,000+ people gain their energy independence and have created 5,000+ jobs during that time.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Redemption Energy, we believe that Everyone should have access to Renewable Energy, Solar, Battery, and Property Improvements. Our customers deserve only the Best Quality and Highest Value Products and Solutions.
We leverage more than 50 years of combined experience to partner with Premium Technology Companies to fulfill that promise to you.
Our Vision and Mission is to create a better world with one home and one business at a time.
We operate, optimize, and amplify the Power of People to better energize this world through providing Renewable Energy Solutions in the Communities that we serve
We create jobs and wealth for our Family, Friends and Future Generations by leveraging Super Influencers and their networks.
Our team are Friends and Family who have positively impacted the industry and community.
The core team has helped 100,000+ people gain their energy independence and have helped create 5,000+ jobs.
Over 15 years ago (before Solar was “cool”), we were a start-up.
The core team took no salary and slept on the couches of our office since we worked 24/7.
However, we believed so much in our vision, mission, values – and most importantly, each other – that (looking back) it wasn’t hard.
Needless to say, we owe thanks to our friends and family who supported us every step of the way.
Our breakthroughs came through partnerships.
The most significant ones were through creating Renewable Energy products and solutions that were affordable and accessible to Main Street America, not just to
Wall Street America.
The other breakthroughs came through Investors (Angels and Series A).
The results (see above):
100,000+ Solar Projects
5,000+ Jobs Created
Harvard Business School Case Study
Via a partner, an IPO (Nasdaq)
Our “secret sauce” is our playbook and culture.
We are typically 1-2 years ahead of industry trends and playbooks.
Our team travels (we bring our franchise players with us everywhere we go).
All members of the team believe that leadership is action, not title.
We all pitch in – at anytime and anyway when necessary.
We have no “Corporate” culture.
We are direct, honest, respectful, and challenge each other to become better everyday.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego is a great community and culture. Day 1: Coronado (just chilling); local restaurant favorite: Peohe’s
Day 2: Gaslamp (cultural adventures); local dives
Day 3: Oceanside (beach); local restaurant favorite: Hello Betty
Day 4: Imperial Beach (beach); AIRBNB
Day 5: Wild Animal Park and Julian (inland adventures)
Day 6: Fishing (early morning, late night)
Day 7: Helping out the local community (Bonita/Chula Vista) – probably Father Joe’s Village
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Shoutout is to my Mother, Hypathia Bernales. She was the youngest of 16 children in the Philippines – born to the Greatest Generation ever back in the 1940’s.
We immigrated to America in the 1970’s and she raised me and my brother in Washington DC.
Since then, I have moved and raised a family (4 kids, 3 grandkids) and have run businesses in California.
Even though my mother worked two (sometimes three) jobs at a time, she always made quality time for her children.
Reading, writing, exploring, helping others.
My mother taught us Christian values and principles.
There was no compromise culture allowed.
She created a structure of trust, respect, and work ethic that I have applied to my entire life (both personal and business).
There is a saying, “You can’t pick your parents, but you can choose how you treat them.”
I hope that I have done her proud every day.
