Meet Emilie Given | CEO and Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilie Given and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emilie, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important impact I think I’ve made on my children is the ability to believe that they can do anything they want to do. I truly live that in my every day life and I make sure to verbalize it aloud and affirm to my kids when they are dreaming out loud as well. We talk often about how many different things you can do in the world, and that you can CHOOSE what you want to do. If the thing you want to do doesn’t already exist, you can create your own version of it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a US based virtual assistant agency. I started this business with the desire to work from home while still supporting my family, and I became an agency when I realized that I could create this opportunity for others as well. Over the past four years we have grown from 1 person (me, freelancing) to a team of 35 assistants! I am so happy to be serving clients and giving others the opportunity to earn money in a way that works for them.
I won’t say that it’s been easy because it hasn’t, but if you have an attitude of curiosity, resilience, and success it makes the journey a lot easier!
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to really believe in your success and “roll with the punches” so they say. Owning a business is STRESSFUL, but if you have a positive outlook, the inevitable situations that cause stress will feel doable and like a positive learning experience.
I want the world to know that She’s A Given isn’t your average VA agency. We hire based on personality above all, and would not hire anyone we wouldn’t allow to work INSIDE of the agency. We really want to build personal relationships with our clients and really alleviate the pressure from the executives/business leaders we support. As a leader myself, I am very passionate about helping business owners spend less time working on the tedious tasks so that they can spend more time living their life. That is what matters!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Edmonds, hands down! We’d get oysters and champagne at Salt and Iron, a lobster roll from Market, stop by Vinbero for their brown butter popcorn and mushroom toast. Then we’d have some wine at Vinbero (maybe the orange flight?) and then walk down to Vie and Vin to see what’s on their rotating pour list!
We’d go to the Farmers Market in Edmonds and walk along the beach. Check out The Wishing Stone Crystal Shop and maybe pop into Little Bipsy or Anchor Chic for a new outfit!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout is to my entrepreneur community. Thank you for supporting me, believing in me, promoting me, and mostly thank you for your friendship. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, and you make it the opposite of that. The amount of love and compassion from each one of you can be felt and I am so grateful.
